Ok, twice in the last two days I've gotten an auto-email from eBay telling me:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Forgot your password?

If you did not forget your password, please ignore this email.

To choose a new password, please go to the URL below:

This request was made from:
IP address: 24.157.52.239
ISP host: cr997089-a.flfrd1.on.wave.home.com

Thank you for using eBay!

What the hell?? I assume someone is trying to get into my info so they can steal my credit card info. Funny thing is, I think the credit card I have listed under this eBay account is a card I cancelled. However, this is still annoying. With the IP address and host can I do something about this?

There's the possibility that it's more benign than cc theft. I'll admit it, I've forgotten usernames & pw's on occasion. A couple of times, I've been completely stumped, and clicked on "forgot password" to have the pw emailed to me. If the pw's don't arrive within one working day, then I ... didn't have the right info.

So maybe this is just a case of some forgetful coot trying to log onto what THEY think is their ebay account. I'm not discounting foul play, just tossing this possibility out there. You should still file complaints with ebay and @home, like chosen says.

/me hobbles off with her cane.

It's a machine in Ontario Canada, probably within a couple of hours of Buffalo, NY. They appear to be running a decent firewall. Check to see if 'you' have bid on anything recently. If youre just a buyer, get a new account. Otherwise, don't worry too much, there are better places to get CC's than Ebay.
