I messed up trying to reinstall linux, over ran my window partition boot sector, and now, no matter what i try, I can't reinstall windows, with the resources available too me. there goes all my pr0n. all my mp3. all my pr0n. my resume. my programs, did i mention my pr0n? I had just installed MS Visual Studio Enterprise edition. Photoshop, was working. **** piss **** **** c**ksucker mother****er!. well i'm pissed anyways.

hrmm i was lovin the dual boot.... but... now.. i have no choice... ugh... once of these days.. i will learn how to work a computer... i swear... :\

Yes, that's why I have a 16x burner. To back up all my pr0n. The problem was that I only had 200 blank CDRs...
I'll have to stop by the store, anyone know where I can get them by the 1000s?

Sucks to hear that nija. If you ever wanted to upgrade to a larger harddrive, you should now. That way you can use this one as a second drive and you can just drag and drop to your new one.

sorry dude. good luck retrieving your stuff. my roommate did a similar thing last year and he couldn't even boot up after that. he had to put his HD in another friend's comp as a slave drive to mess with it. it took like 2 weeks to get things working again. good luck, mang.

I wish i had that much space. it seems like im backing up stuff to cd's every few days to clear up so my i dont keep getting mem errors. with 200 gigs i could go like a month without backing stuff up. too bad i only buy expensive drives like ibm gxp's. cant afford lots of them.

yeah my backup drive is a Deskstar 75GXP 30gig, the other two 30s are maxtor ( got them cheap when the were under $100 from staples like 6 months ago ) and the 80 is just a 5400 OEM drive that I got for 169...

I love my IBM drive but Maxtor has been doing well lately...

and it is funny having 170gig, makes people say funny things :P

Sheriff Fury, is this one of your deputies? If so I think it's time for some remedial training. "Mang" is absolutely a word, just as g222leav said, for man. I'm trying to remember which comedian uses it all the time...

maybe i just didnt understand this. or maybe it's too early to understand anything (with no coffee, at that). so you couldnt do fdisk /mbr? or boot with a boot disk that has sys files. or if it's now a linux partition, you can't make it a pri dos with your linux util? how bout if you just boot with lilo and mount the drive that way? there's also your linux rescue disk.

welp... here i am
i've finally got my comptuer working. for a while there.. i didn't have *either OS* didn't make a ME backup disk, didn't have a Linux one. ugh.

I like the pr0n collection Idea :)

i eventually got some help from a one mister. OC who pointed me in the correct direction to acquire some bootdisks from *shameless plug http://www.bootdisk.com * and then i had to aefdisk /delall then aefdisk /mbr. i eventually got it working (when the computer decided to realize the error of it's ways (hehe i almost took a flail to it :D {FYI yes i have a flail, it's on the back of my door, dopey's seen it})

So now.. i have to finish updating windows (still need some updates) and i need to put some of my old pr0grams on... then i need to get some *realllllllll* good pr0n, then i need to reinstall paritionmagic, and make a linux native drive to try all this crap again :D

I'm just asking for trouble.

I think someone should set up an FTP of like emergency pr0n in cases like this... (u think anyone can tell that i'm really bumbed about losing it? :P)

Anyways.. thanks for the support... and i wasn't using redhat (the funkin thing wouldn't load on my computer, i was using mandrake :))

Nothing to be ashamed of for that plug. I really like bootdisk! (I used to always enjoy it when an I would see an update announced on tweakfiles. Man, I miss tweakfiles!)

hrm...this all sounds familiar.....almost like...nah, i wont say it. but it certainly didnt sound like you really lost any data since i didn't see where you formatted or anything like that.

i'm glad you got it running tho. you didn't have a linux native drive the first time? did you have linux on a partition? or did you have *shudder* linux running on a FAT partition? remember to make a linux rescue disk and a bootable windows (able to actually boot windows and not just run diagnostics) boot disk while you're running. and read up on the linux rescue process while you can and try it once (it takes a time to actually practice it so you can do it fairly quickly when you need it. it just involves making a virtual directory and switching over, but it's actually quite handy.

ACtually i did lose some data that was important to me, but it's water under the bridge and their's nothing i can do about it now..

I was running linux on a linux native drive (3gb inlcuding /swap).
I think next week, i will be reinstalling linux (and making a boot disk ;P) but i will be reading up on some linux websites, and also trying to read some of the linux books i have laying around, so next time, i won't feel like a little lost white kid....
