It's almost winter..pots of simmering soup, beef stew, chili, mac and cheese..what's your pleasure?
Obbys restaurant serving up today (since I don't have to work) hearty bowls of beef noodle soup, crusty bread, and apple crisp..

I'll start the poll off with MY favorite..sorry I forgot to put an "OTHER" CATEGORY..:)

I voted for turkey dinner, but I think it's going to be spaghetti tonight. (thai style)

Thai Spaghetti

1 lb. ground pork (unseasoned)
7 cloves of garlic
oil
salt and pepper
crushed red thai peppers (not sure of the name, I get them from MIL)
cooked spaghetti
Soy sauce or fish sauce

Heat oil and cook the minced garlic. Add the pork and seasonings and cook until meat is done. Add the spaghetti and stir fry until mixed and heated through. Add soy or fish sauce to taste. I use about 2 Tbsp. of crushed peppers, but I'm a wimp, add as much as you like.

Hmm. Didn't see a good juicy steak cooked over real coals (with mesquite chips, of course), sautéd mushrooms, and a baked potato with crispy skin. So I chose the roast beef as the closest thing.

Sounds good, but I don't think grilled or barbecued stuff qualifies as comfort food.

I wouldn't know..I've never been there..HELL I don't even know if there IS a Rosita's OR a route 66..
and even if is one-I doubt I'd be living there..If you wanna rake my lawn for food you better get your butt on a plane to NY. :)

Yumm! DF, that sounds good :D

My Grandma used to make these potatoes that where so good!

She would peel and boil them, then I don't know if she strained them at that point, I think she did. Anyway, she would add milk, salt and pepper and a little starch to thicken. It was soo good.

I miss her. :( She was the ultimate cook in comfy food knowhow.

:heh: MY kinda white ppl poll ... cracker peckerwood whitey!!! yay!

i would have answered differently not too long ago... soup, maybe... but a friend just made me some of the best durned chili and cornbread i've ever had... it was jalapeno cornbread, and the chili was all either fresh kentucky tomatoes out of his mom's garden, or stuff she had canned... omg the boy has got the cookin skeelz...

i also learned that a proper cracker does not eat cornbread separately, but rather puts it at the bottom of the bowl and spoons the chili on top. i am now a more proper cracker.
