Looking for 512MB of PC2100 DDR for a new system, but the largest stick Crucial has is 256MB. Should I look elsewhere for a 512MB stick and pay more + shipping, or use an extra DIMM slot and get two 256MB sticks at Crucial + free 2-day fed-ex? About how much RAM should I expect to need in the future...my mobo has 3 DIMM slots.

two stick of RAM is good just incase one of it goes bad.
or one stick for future upgrade with out tossing out a memory.
more memory with W2K and XP is good.
if your running WIN98 256 would be more than enough.

basically more of personal preference...

I would buy 2 stick.....always do it.
I have 640MB in this configuration:
1 - 128
2 - 256

I'm using 512MB of ram for Win2k and everything is great. Some motherboards (especially old ones) have problems with large ram sticks.

Crucial is great memory. Now if you can get memory like infineon thats okay too.

Looks like for DDR Kingston is using Nanya chips. Anyone familiar with the quality of Nanya chips?

Kingston w/Nanya (http://http://www.ebnonline.com/digest/story/OEG20010319S0036)

Trying to decide between these two:

- one 512MB stick of Kingston
- two 256MB sticks of Crucial
