Ouch. I bet a lot of boeing execs will be stopping by the neighborhood liquor store on the way home tonight.

I expect them to give this one to Lockheed-Martin. Boeing is working on some other very interesting stuff.

You got something against Boeing's X32 Pregnant Guppy?
I was rooting for Lockheed in this one - Boeing is waaaaay to quick to lay people off. Their actions often have a big (negative) impact on the Seattle economy.
Also, their plane was hit by a big-ass ugly stick.

$35 million each for the standard, $40 million each for vstol version. That's really REALLY cheap for something like this. I'm pretty impressed.

What city is Boeing headquartered in now? They were in Wichita, KS a number of years, then moved to Seattle. Now they are in St louis?

Boeing just moved their HQ from Seattle to Chicago. There was a division in Wichita (may still be there). A few years ago Boeing merged with (acquired) McDonnell Douglas which was headquartered in St. Louis, and all those buildings are now under the Boeing name.

is it just me, or does the X-35 look a lot like an F22?
Still, I'm glad they got it...that X-32 was just butt ugly. I'll be sad to see the A-10, the f-18, and the f-16 retire though.

it might look a little like it (there are only so many ways to make a manueverable stealthy plane) but there are lots of cool things bout it. one small example is its ability to hover. ;)
