Yumm! Korean BBQ is good. Except when I smell like BBQ afterwards...That's mandatory dinner because I always have to go home and shower after eating that stuff.
And let us not forget about KimChi!

always in the mood for some good food in k-town...

there is this one place we go to...(don't know how to speak korean) so all we do is go in there and say "number 5"...and boom!...they bring out all this pork, beef, soup, kimchee...oh man! i love that place...its a great little hole in the wall.

if you are in the LA k-town area...here's what you do...

its on olympic, in between crenshaw and arlington, on the north side of the street. Look for Hanmi Bank...it's on the NW corner of that intersection...yellow sign on the corner. go in there..."number 5" 29.99 bucks feeds two to three

Love the Korean barbecue. Love the Korian soup bars, where you get a bowl of boiling water at your table, and a buffet bar of various items to throw in it. I even love the kim **** and various other pickled veggies you get to start off with!

And I like clay pot, de bim bop, I could go on and on...

My husband was in Korea last year. He loved the food. He brought home some remix... (beer) I can't spell it.. soju so-joo, something like that. He brought home a lime and a cherry flavor. Cherry tasted like cough syrup but the other is good. And it was a very good batch :D

I'm not Korean (I'm Belgian and Palestinian) and I love Korean food. I love the meat, Bulgogi, Kalbi, etc. I love Bim Bim Bap and of course Nyung Myung (cold noodles). But my favorite is Soon-Doo-Boo (I probably messed up the spelling, but that's how ya say it). That tofu soup is incredible. I keep a jar of Ko-Chu-Jang (yeah, spelling Korean in English is hard) the sweet hot sauce in my fridge and take it to the dining halls to make dinner better.

3 Good places in LA's K-Town:
Hodori Jeep (funny name, I know)-Vermont and 12th (I think).

BCD Tofu House: 2 locations, Wilshire and Western (that good one) and the Vermont and 7th. The second onw isn't as good, but it's $1 cheaper. Who knows why, it's the same chain.

Buffetland: Great all you can eat Korean BBQ in LA (Olympic and Vermont I think). It's authentic and has graeat food for only $20/person.

to all the Hankook Saram's, thanks for the great food. ther service always sucks at Korean Restaurants, but once you get teh food you forget all about the service.

Another native Korean here.

Actually I'm in the San Francisco Bay area and recently it was interesting to see for the first time a Korean restaurant become popular enough to somewhat resemble the form of a chain restaurant. There's this place here called "So Ra Bul" and looks like it's doing VERY well. I went to the food court at the local mall and it had the longest line out of all the shops there. And I've seen it in about three other places throughout the Bay Area. Anybody who has been to a Korean restaurant should know that a very important element of a Korean meal is the "Ban Chan," or various little side dishes that range from pickled veggies, meats, beans, etc. That was the main reason that it's so hard to make a Korean restaurant "fast." But this place has been pretty successful in transforming the Korean restaurant into a foodcourt style "choose X items" type of place.

If you haven't tried Korean food I highly recommend it. A good thing to start out with would be the barbecued meats. Everybody loves the barbecued meats. Then you could slowly try the more peculiar "exotic" foods. :)

and BrewMaster, when we se all the non-korean people like you who love our GoChuJang sauce, we think it's hilarious, but consider you VERY cool!!

Hey ucbstan, you ever go to brothers? I highly recommend there too. I'm sure you know of it. But they're awesome since they actually use real wood embers to cook the meat. MMM, wish I was still up in SF.

OOooohhh yes!!....brother's has some of the best barbecued meat!! I go there all the time. There's actually this Korean Barbecue buffet place in San Leandro that's not bad. Usually all you can eat places lack in quality, but for $15 this place actually uses decent grills and the meat is pretty good too. If you ever visit up here again let me know, and I'll tell you where to find this place. It's a great place for delicious protein lading after a hard workout session!!

What about the way mom used to make it? Being at college that is one of the biggest things I miss, mom's cooking. The restaurants are good but homecooked is the best.

Don't most of the Koreans up at Cal that are Christians go to KCPC?

Mmmm...bulgogi and strawberry soju. :) And occasionally pan-jan(?)

I like all the kimchi that just comes as part of the meal regardless of what you order. Seven to 12 different lil dishes depending on where you go over here on the east coast.
