Check whether comcast offers a cable modem solution though @home in your area. Hopefully this will help someone.. http://www.home.com/delivere12comcast.html

I think if i had to do it over again I'd go with DSL instead of Comcast@Home, I get lots of downtime in my area (Philadelphia) - just thought i'd warn those thinking about it.

ATT @home (SF CA bay area) is giving first 3 months at 19.95 instead of 39.95 and a $50 webcertifcate for new customers! Get that cable modem today! Youll never EVER go back to dialup (and I never usually go for things w/a monthly fee: cable, DSS etc)

Comcast@home had some problems when they first got here. I've been using it for over 8 months now and I have to agree I will never go back to dialup or DSL. Comcast has improved so much around my area. I haven't had down time in over 3 months...and they was just one day for upgrades.

Hopefully they will be the same in your area. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Love my Cable, not Comcast though

but I checked for another address and use this one, no email asked for so they can market to you http://www.home.com/signup-us-frontpage.html

What other costs are associated with the ATT @home deal? What is the cost of the modem? Do you have to pay for hookup? Anyone been through this setup lately? I'm very interested.

TWILIGHT: there are NO other charges for AT&T @home..its even INSTALLED FREE! my service is 40.97 per month charged automatically to my CC (39.95 plus tax) it includes access AND leasing the cable modem.

No contract (unlike DSL) you can cancel ANYTIME with no penalty! They offer a full 30 day money back so you can get installation FREE, the free $50 webcert FREE, and 1 month FREE, but by then you will be completely hooked...at least get the 3 months @ 19.95 ..that deal expires 6/30/00 call 1888 824 8192 make sure to ask for the 3 months at 19.95 and the $50 webcertificate!

Installation was a bit problematic for me but only b/c there was no cable line going from the street to my house...the computer cable guys kept coming to install but the street crew hadnt run the wire...once they got the wire run to the house it was a simple procedure...they install, hookup and get you connected...

BE CAREFUL! lightning fast internet is addictive! im getting 150-200 kbps/sec (unlike 2-4k before on dialup)

oh yeah, to clarifY: yes they did bring a whole construction crew, ran a line to the house, ran a line through the wall with a outlet/jack, and hooked it up all for FREE...its silly not to get in on this, at least you get your house wired up if you want it later on in the future!

AT&T is also offering a digital cable/@home bundle for new customers - if you have one, but not the other, you're still elligible. $79.99 a month for @home + silver digital (HBO/Starz+Encore) and free install. After six months, it goes up $18. However, they're still running ads for $200 credit for satellite dishes, and neither offer says it can't be combined, so... http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif
