Does anyone else hate gardening as much as me? Just bought a new house but I don't want to pay so much for landscaping. So I've decided to put in sod and lay cement myself. Dreading the idea of digging into the dirt just to till up the ground (prep for sod). Oh well

With November staring us in the face, gardening is not to be considered in the Chicago area. You should be disliking the thought of shovelling snow! :P

I loathe gardening, especially the get down on your knees and pick up wet leaves kind of gardening. Even worse, I would garden outside for free because my dad makes me.

I like my vegetable garden, but I don't like all the other stuff. Even though I spend hours sweating and toiling with other landscaping stuff, when it's done and looking good I feel a sense of accomplishment.

I love gardening because I can look forward to the results.

I hate gardening as much as you do. I bought a condo just so I didn't have to do any gardening.
I say cement the whole thing over.

Can't you rent a rotortiller for a day or something? When I was a wee lad my brothers and I helped my Dad with a pretty big vegetable garden on my Grandma's property. Probably about an acre and a half of land devoted to just the garden, I'd guess. Enough for fresh veggies all summer and autumn, and some frozen veggies through the winter. He used the rotortiller and tilled the whole thing in just a couple hours.

it's fun when you lay out a plan for your garden and then make it happen. look at it this way, it's like building a nice comp. it takes work and planning, but when it''s done, boy is it sweet! the whole landscape/gardening thing is fun. using stones and low maintenace plants correctly can give you a beautiful yard.
