Ok, I'm looking for a 5-disk DVD+CD/tuner/receiver/speaker setup. I've seen the combos in Circuit City by Pioneer, Sony, and some other common names. These look nice and pretty to me because they're all-inclusive, and relatively inexpensive at about $600.
So, what do you fellers who know about this sorta thing recommend for a new comer? Our original intent was to just get a new stereo, but then I saw the prices on these setups and was interested. Components would be great, but the few I looked at came to over $600 with just the receiver and a single disk dvd..
I'm looking to stay in the $6-700 price range.. Anybody? Anybody?
I'll tell you what give me the cash and i'll make sure you get something real nice.:naughty:

I bought the sony 550watt surround package and loved it. its the model that ends in 820. I used the bestbuy 10% preferred customer coupon, as well as the 10% off when you sign up for a 30 day trial of msn. I cancelled that when i got home. :)
For a dvd player i bought a floor model that was a 200 disc sony dvd changer. I got that for 230.
I spent under 700 bucks and have a system worth about 1300. Not too bad of a deal. I think the sony systems sound great. It was definitely worth it.
The best thing about the packaged systems is the speakers match the reciever. I think they sound better for that reason. I went sony because the sound as well as the fact that the sub wasnt a huge block like other namufacturers sell.
I would stay away from aiwa and the rca systems. I dont like the way they sound.

checked that out, looks like a nice err.. package :)
these coupons, where'd you find them? i checked out BB's site and can't find 200-disk unit, but they do have like a 301 disk unit.. That's just a lot of disks, if'n you ask me.
Thanks for the tip though. I think I might head over to BB today and see what's available.

the 301 disc replaced the 200. I would go with that if you can swing it. The multi disc changers are definitely worth it. BB just had a coupon mailing. I;m not sure how you get them. They are also in the paper every once in a while.

a friend of mine has the panasonic all in one dealio..not bad...but not great either. i like the idea of getting a full sized system with a receiver and speakers from bestbuy or circuit ****ty, they usually have a decent setup on sale every week...find some coupons and get a nice dvd player.
or if you can find one, get an onkyo dr-90, all in one dts/5.1 receiver dvd player...i have it and wouldn't trade it for the world...well maybe i would for something with 6.1/THX/etc...
