Get a book! Serious if you are a good reader you can learn a lot on your own. If you can find some old 486’s and install NT Workstation and NT server you can do some hands on. I went to Coleman College and didn’t learn anymore than I knew. I knew more than the teacher when I came to UNIX/Linux. I got my MCSE in 6 months after I picked up some books.
If You’re new to networking, go the Cisco rout. You can find classes at the junior colleges that prepare you for the CCNA, the program is called “Cisco Networking Academy” They even have the classes at some adult schools for $30 here in San Diego. I started the class and it is great, I learnt more in that class the first two months than I did at Coleman. What sucks is I have to pay back $10,000.00 for Coleman and the Cisco class is only $30.00. My Wife hates me for that. I’m getting ready to pass the CCNA and that is where the money is. Like they say “the girls are where the money is.” So don’t miss out!
