Well as some of ya know, I picked up an 2001.5 A4 1.8t about two months ago. Damn my luck. After the first week of having it, no first five days, it starts bleeding oil. So I take it back to the dealer and they look at it. . . four days later I pick it up. When I drive home, the bloody thing leaks again. So now not only am I pissed my car needs diapers, but the dealer is trying to screw around with me. So I take it back and 3 weeks later, and a new cylinder head, new gaskets, and seals all around. . . I get the car back. Now its running ok. But then when I go to fill up the car later on. . . the damn thing won't fill up 'cause of too much back pressure. It took me a ridiculous 30 minutes to fill up 16 gallons. So on back to the dealership, into my spot in the garage that had little time to collect dust. At the dealer, I tell the guy whats wrong and he says "ok I'll send out a technician with you to the station to show you how to pump the gas properly." I almost blew up on the guy. . . WTF?!?! Since when do you need to be a technician to know how to properly fuel a car. . . this ain't no F1 bastid. Anyhow one embarrasing trip later to the petrol station and the tech tells his supervisor to order up a fuel tank. The tech guy was cool though. While at the station, 10 minutes into trying to fuel the car he said "what the hell, I'd be pissed off five minutes ago if this was my car." Anyhow, one new fuel tank later and now everything runs ok. . . except for an annoying whistle noise eminating from the passenger a pillar. The dealer has looked at it twice but hasn't really done much to help it. I think I'm going to have them just replace the seals around the door and crap. Anyhow if you're still reading me bitch about my luck, despite all of this bad luck of mine, I can't deny how great it is to drive this car when its not in the shop. I've put 2100 miles now and engine is starting to feel broken in. I think I'll be chipping it at around 5000 or so or whenever GIAC releases a programable chip for the fly-by-wire throttle models. Anyhow at this point I must congratulate you for reading this far otherwise, smart move to skim read, hehe. I'll have more updates later. . .

try going to another dealer or writing to AudiUSA. if they cant fix the problem your problem might be covered under the lemon laws of your state (http://www.lemon-automobiles.com/) good luck, i hope you get it fixed properly without any more problems.

Well before the whistleing problem I already had my attorney speak with them. Ended up also having lunch with the So Cal Ownership & Technical Specialist of Audi of America. He told me if it ever leaks oil again, they'll give me a new one. Lemon law wouldn't even been an issue according to my attorney since I had the car less than it was in the shop from the time of purchase. So that alone could of entitled to a new car.

cool, hope you get a new one without any problems.
dont they already have chips for the drive-by-wire throttle audis? that system has been around since at least 98. try checking around for vw passat 1.8t chips, they should fit without a problem unless you have a quattro. they might even have a vw 4motion if there is a passat wagon in the 1.8t flavor.

Well so far nothing has gone wrong with it for a whole 2 weeks. . . so maybe no new A4. There are chips around, just waiting for a GIAC multi-program chip.

Well.. the General Manager or the Owner of the dealership would have been next. (Especially after you call their "corporate office" on them.)
Yeah, find out as much as you can about the owner of the dealership, then threaten the manager or supervisor that you know how much the owner hates to be bothered at his tee time or something like that. one time my friends and i wanted to test drive the new (at the time) lex lx470 and when we stepped into the dealership we didnt get any help at all. i felt that this was a little strange since ive never had this problem before, especially since we rolled up in 2 bimmers, a brand new caddie, a benz and a range rover so new, the ink hadnt dried on the paperwork yet. i even knew the receptionist real well. the salesmen i talked to was stallin and askin me if "my FATHER was a client of thiers!!!" i got pissed and told him that i hoped he liked an extended vacation and threw out a little info about how much his boss hates to be disturbed during his golf game, while my friend pulled out a phone and started to dial a number. needless to say, i had the keys to a brand new forest green lx470 for an unsupervised test drive, while my friends who stayed back were treated to a fresh selection of refreshments.
I used to work with guy that bought an A4 V6. It was in the shop more than two weeks to fix a blown head gasket (it had about 1500 miles on it) and as a loaner they gave him a 1992-ish Acura Legend. He was just about to sue the b*stards when he got the car back. All seemed fine after that.

. . . and my luck gets better. Something is messed with the computer so the miles to service indicator hasn't moved at all. Its been stuck at 1400 for the last oh. . . 500 miles. Anyhow gotta take it in for that and to get the door resealed. If its in the shop for two more days, I'm calling shinanigans on them. Good ol' 30 day rule. . . hopefully its not going to be all complicated but meh we'll see.

I hope I never have the need for a sex shrink. Hell I need sex first before the use of a sex shrink.
