Where's your game now, Texas? We're the king of the castle, and we always knew you twerps weren't packin' anything.
Goddamn politicians who overreacted to the power emergency. "I know! Let's kill all the environmental safeguards in order to decrease the operating costs for power producers! Then they can increase their margins! Screw the laws of economics!"
So now I've got a hacking cough and the right wing wants to simulateously poison the earth AND slash health expenditure. I think I might move back to Canada.

Honestly, I didn't notice the smog much at all in Houston. Over in Galveston, there is a peninsula full of factories where you can actually see the smog originating. Simpson Pasedena Paper mills are the absolute worst! *choke*

Actually, I think this has more to do with Texas' greatest source of effluvium leaving the state for a position in Washington DC. :D

Paper mills ARE the worst. <gag> I remember when we used to drive through Palatka, Florida, where there was a paper mill. I would bury my head in a pillow and try not to breathe.

don't we have another stuffed shirt governor to replace... the country clubs here in Texas are just full of these doofuses (doofii ?). Houston will rise again! Emissions are down because of reduced petro-demand.

Well, that makes two of 'em, then.
Add Tommy Thompson, windbag former governor of Wisconsin to DC, and it looks like the District will be rapidly climbing the smog charts!

Canada sounds like a great place. I guess I see it like the US's little brother (in a good way). They've learned from all of our mistakes and do things better. Look at public health care in Canada. I think I might want to moce their down the line. The only bad thing is I think every part of Canada gets cold in the winter. That sucks, I'm a Cali man.:kaching:

Don't forget they take ~52% of your income in taxes, plus BIG sales taxes...

They're bad, but not as bad as driving by a waste and sewage treatment plant. Ever been by Bondi's Island outside Springfield, MA. Eesh! :puke:

Even better than that are the rendering plants scattered all over the midwest. Places that recycle animal parts into feed/fertilizer and other wonderfully nauseous products. Combination slaughterhouse/landfill and cook it all up at 350 degrees.
Nothing turns your stomach on a hot summer day like the aroma of animal parts being boiled down in huge quantities.
There used to be an accident every few years on a highway that ran by one near where I went to college. Someone would hurl in their lap while driving, and lose control of the car...

Well, if you're driving by a large feedlot (Colorado has some huge ones) and the wind is wrong, watch out! If you don't get your windows up and AC on recirculate before it hits you, you'll regret it for a long time.
