The Bottom Line The bottom line is...you can move on. Don't go down with the ship gang, it never serves a purpose.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eh, I had planned a big long thing on the, to me, quite obvious death spiral of Epinions. But then I realized, I don't really care all that much.

Epinions stopped meaning anything to me a long time ago. It did get me writing again, which did land me a semi legit gig. So for that, thanks.

But as they never really respected the writers to begin with, I guess I'm not all heart broken with what is going on. Heck, I saw it coming a long time ago.

Epinions could have been so much more than it was. It could have, and should have exploited those writers to do oh so much more then just reviews of soap. Quite possibly it never should have dangled money in front of us to begin with.

Ep, you main ingredient was us, but you never seemed to remember that. Without us though, there isn't a lot of point in coming here...or even in having a site. Not that I expect you to be around all that much longer.

All writers need editors; you failed to provide, leaving writers to police the site. Writers make lousy editors, gang. And the raw arrogance that allows one to write with any kind of clarity makes an even worse cop.

You should have limited the size of your writing pool. You should have been quicker to dump the quick money schemers, the 100 word artists, the time wasters.

You should have picked a flipping rating system and stuck to it.

You should have known better then to use empty words to placate writers - who know a line of garbage when they hear one - we write them all the time, we darn well ought to.

You don't listen to your best writers - until those very writers revolt en masse - and then you have the outright 'nads to say you didn't reverse your stupid edit/delete policy because of them. Do I look that stupid? When the best and brightest declare you blow dogs, have the guts to admit it. That's an even larger lack of respect the original 'error in judgement'.

I ain't worried about spell checking this, or grammar, or anything. My 100th review, after 2 years, and I'm not interested in the effort.

Because frankly, you were never that interested in mine.

Oh well. Sorry, I won't stick around for the death bed confession; I've seen that episode already. But to the rest of you - take the knowledge that you CAN write to heart, and don't think for a second that it needs to be for pennies, or for anyone else. Writing for yourself is more then enough, everything else is cake. Use this place to practice, because that's about all it's good for now. For however long that will be. I ain't holding my breath.

I'm outtie.

I realize that fakesurfers posting this is entirely out of context for most of you, but you really don't know what you are talking about.

EP pulled some stuff this last week that was the final straw for many writiers. As to money, yeah, I made a fair amount of cash there, actually.

But as far as I'm concerned, EP is next in line to be an internet dead end.

It's true you can make some cash from them, but yeah, they should be cratering sometime soon.
