Toddler Brings Marijuana To Day Care

NEWPORT, R.I. -- A toddler brought a bag of pot to his day care-center, leading to the arrest of his mother and her boyfriend.

Authorities said that Melissa Connell, 21, and Christopher McKinney, 24, are being charged with child neglect in family court.

In addition, McKinney faces a charge of possession with intent to deliver marijuana.

Police said that the toddler showed up with a bag of marijuana he got off the kitchen table. After being alerted by a day-care teacher, police got a warrant to search the couple's apartment yesterday afternoon.

Police said that they seized an ounce of marijuana, several smaller bags, a pipe and $800.
