I am building a system, probably about a 1.2Ghz AMD T-Bird or XP...I am trying to figure out which power supply I want...
I dont overclock...I will probably have 2 CDRWs, 2 Hard Drives, Floppy, etc....I dont have a bunch to spend so I am looking in the 350watt area.
I looked at the Enermax 365 and some Antec models. Ive read that the Enermax isnt quiet and Ive not seen much about the Antec PSUs. What does everyone recommend? I am looking to spend in the sub$100 region.
Thanks alot

Enermax does have a WISPHER series which is very quiet....
It has thermal controled fan in the PSU and I blieve you can get it for under $100.

I was looking at that series I believe...it is the Enermax 365FC with FC being for fan controlled.
When I read reviews for it though - it said that it is no quiter than any other PSUs...so I was trying to find out if they actually run quiet or not...
Thank you for the replies thus far...

well, I never had a PS that was 300W+ until this one
and also, I leave my case open all the time...
so I can't really say if it's quieter or not....
sorry

well attgig do u have a HSF that is loud? this might contribute to how loud ur system is and not the PSU....
one of my friend who built a Graphic Station used one of the Enermax 450watt PSU with XENON....it was hell of quiet. Then again XENON don't run to hot to require a big @ss HSF.

Enermax = cool!
350W = Perfect for what you described (www.newegg.com)
431W enermax = what i'm getting, overkill, but has bragging rights. :D

How do you feel about the Antec 350watt vs. the Enermax 350watt?
That is basically what I am trying to decide between. Antec is about $50 shipped whereas the Enermax FC is about $60 shipped. Ive heard good things about both. What do you recommend?
Thank you for taking the time to reply

Dude, you should have bought the Antec!!
Just kidding. :D
There shouldn't be much of a difference between them. What you want to look for is current ratings and not watts anyway. There are many 300W PSU's out there that have lower current ratings (where you need them)than some 250W PSU's. You just need to know what to look for and Antec and Enermax are both excellent.

I have a 400W antec and its no louder than my 400W Enermax another computer.
You can't compare the two unless you have both and an older Antec may be louder than a newer Enermax and vice-versa.
