A friend of mine just emailed me-he just got a burner and it has nero software...alot of discs he is using keep saying the disc is bad..he changed the speed down to 1x and is still cant read when he is tryingt to compile *his exact words*...got any solutions? thanks.

Maybe the drive is bad, maybe he should reinstall Nero or try different software. Maybe something inside is loose or the IDE cable is bad.

yeah check your connections first. I shudder to hear myself suggest this but try EZ creator if nero doesn't work

Whats the exact problem? Is he not able to finish a burn or is he able to finish a burn but the drive doesn't read it?

Obby is he trying to copy a CD or is he burning like a MP3 disk? Has he tried to burn an image first, then burn a CD from image? That would take half of the equation. It could be that his CD-Rom and CD-RW are on the same IDE channel and having conflicts. Let us know how it turns out.

download an update from nero Thats what I had to do when I bought a new CDRW and nero was included with it & I still had to download the new software
