Best RPG game for playstation 1

i've been bored lately and i want to play a good old rpg game again. i havent played one since ff8. and i didnt even finish it cause i couldnt find the last cd. if you guys can recommend a good rpg game id be grateful.

ff9 is kinda cool, but its no ff7. ive played and replayed it about 4 or 5 times. i liked the materia concept,the battles in that casino ( cant remember the name)the music was cool too. With ff8 ( cant remember if ff9 had it ) the card playing thing was kinda stupid..thats just me

FFVII - revolutionary RPG... Probably the best FF game, or at least top 3(FFIII, FFIX). Excellent story, Great soundtrack, FMV's are pretty good, and the materia system is pretty cool.

FFIX - Not revolutionary by any means, but a very good game, excellent FMV's, good tunes, and a damn fine story.

FF7 by far is the best RPG on PSX1 I had someone tell me how they can play this crap until they tried it out they were hooked! I think that person played it for at least 4 times and with a gameshark!:heh:

AHHHHH! CRONO CROSS!

One thing made Final Fantasy IV suck for me...the bar that calculates when your characters can attack. Prior to FF IX, the bar was "real Time", and when it made it to the end, your character would do what you told it right after you entered the command. That way, you can time your attacks. In FF IX, it's wacked because there can be a huge delay between when two of your characters attack, even if you've given the command for both characters with seconds of each other. It's because the bar does NOT stop for animations, when it should because a character does not seem to "charge up" during animations. IMO, this makes the game unplayable. You just sit there giving commands not knowing when any of your characters are going to attack.

Uhhh...Chrono Trigger was for SNES...Crono Cross was for Playstation...both games are great...

fft is 100 times better then ff7.
havent played ff9 yet but ff8 was fing horrible.

i personally enjoyed beyond the beyond, i have no idea why, its a horrible game. i think it was just one of the last rpg games i played before i kinda got tired of them.

and irish, you can't tell me ff2 isn't in the top three best ff games.

i hate how they kinda tried to get more serious in ff8, is ff9 any different?

No, FF9 is kinda going back to the roots, so to speak. But they screwed-up the gameplay.

FFT was more of a turn based strategy game than a true RPG.
FF8 did kind of suck. I thought the story was weak. The little card game sucked. I got bored of it quick. But I have to hand it to the folks at Square. They do know how a thing or two about character development. Loved Tifa, Arieth and Riona :D
