I've watched, over the last few days, the price of the 512MB PC2100 DDR stick jump from about $50 to $75.
What could be the deal?
Dave.

thats just the way prices go sometimes. it may be effected by a whole bunch of factors, just like the stock market

I read somewhere that RAM prices are increasing because of some lawsuit thing that happened involving Micron and some other RAM manufacturers. Prices in Canada went up pretty high a couple of days ago and now I guess the US is following up. After I found out about this, I immediately went to Crucial and got some pc2100 DDR registered w/ ECC, 512 mb for about $68 or so. I shoulda posted something about it but I forgot. Sorry guys.

Crucial has a free shipping offer. If you do plan on purchasing from them, I saw a crucial G|A banner yesterday so go through that to help out. :thumbup

I ran into the same problem. Was going to get the Mushkin 512MB Special for $59, but waited too long and the sale ended. Since then, been thinking to just get two 256MB sticks at Crucial (wish they had 512MB sticks), but the prices there are starting to trend up also. Does any know if prices are going to continue to rise, or will they come back down in the next couple weeks?

I was thinking of going through crucial, but as Jauhiainen said, crucial doesn't have the sticks of 512. I was planning on going for that same Muskin! sale too. Damn me and my lateness. If anyone find 512 for cheap let us all know :) thanks

POOP, i remember when 256 was 21 a stick. I think the lowered gas prices raised the Ram prices... :)

Ah ha... interesting observation, Chosenfool. Looks like the resellers are looking to do a little gouging before cooler heads (and lower prices) prevail.
I'll bet prices come back down after the "anticipation" goes away and they need to seriously compete for the business of P4 owners, eh?
Dave.
