View Full Version : How do I UN-Install DirectX8.1?

So I installed Direct X 8.1 a couple of days ago and Arcanum stopped working for me. Sierra released a patch, but the version of arcanum I have has a nifty little no-level-cap hack.

So, I need to go back to DX8.0a.

Anyway, I remember once having a batch file program that would uninstall DirectX so one could downgrade. Anyone know where I could download it?

Eh. . . you don't. Only way is to reformat windoze. . .

...I'll give DXB a try. The author states that his next version will support DX8.1...but I'm hopeful-downloading now.

Wait, I dont think you should give it a try if 8.1 is not fully supported yet. Wait a couple days.

ouch, thats tough. ive never heard of anyone uninstalling directx. good luck

...Direct X Buster worked great. I installed DX8.0a. Unfortunately, Arcanum still doesn't work.-just exits to the desktop after title sequence load. Really wierd-it worked fine for weeks...now this. Oh well, there are other games to play.

Yeah, since the 8.1 isn't supported yet I don't think the program removed all the installed components. So there could still be some stuff left over there that's making arcanum not working. Oh well..
