tomorrow at 4:30am..to visit the hubs last remaining relative for a thanksgiving visit..we'll be driving for 5-6 hours and to be honest I don't know if I'm up for the trip..she's like a zillion years old, no children, husband passed away last year, and now she's on her last legs..so it's pretty mandatory we go to visit her..that means..HOURS riding in a car with a person who barely carries on a conversation..I'm still side-effecting from whatever bug hit me this week, so I can tell already it's gonna be a groovy trip..OH-btw, we ARE NOT staying over night-we are going to visit for a few hours-then driving home..how friggin dumb is that..MR.Melon does not want to spend $$$ before the holidays to stay over night(insert cheapskate here)..maybe he's saving up to get me a new plastic box for X-mas or something..sheesh. I'll be having G|A withdrawals by the time we hit The Pa. border...OMG what am I gonna do?.......:ugh: :neartears

Lots of cough syrup. Add a little extra "fortification" and you are good to go. You can nap on the way there. Maybe Niquil would be even better.

Last time I "napped" in the car-we were on our way to Cape May NJ and I awoke with jets flying over my head at the newark airport..(Mr.Melon took a very WRONG turn!)

Hey Obby! You can make a pit stop in PA and I will share my special holiday Xanax supply with you. This year I plan on taking a Xanax with a Vicodin chaser every two hours until I can beat it on out of CT. My family is much more amusing when I am stoned out of my head!

I am hoping my little pooch doesn't let me down this year! I am so passive agressive when it comes to my family. Maybe this year he'll piss on her pillow or dinner plate.
Stop on by Mr. Melon can speak Geek with my husband. Maybe my husband can teach him how to buy gifts. Or I can shove a Tiffany's catalog up his ummmm, nose and maybe he will get the hint.
I am having this vision of him driving down 95 eating KFC straight out the bucket...

Well, you are already gone, but maybe you should have asked him to give you your box early and put a laptop in it with a cell phone so you can be online on the road, too. :D

OMG THE TRIP FROM HELL.....
OK so we leave at 4:30am..and of course I am freaking out because we have to drive through Pennsylvania, which of course now that it's deer season, every friggin deer in the state has to stand at the side of the road taunting drivers with a game of "shall I run out and smash into your front grill" which wouldn't even have been TOO bad if it was light out..but being dark when we left they ALL come out..So we are on Rte81 with these obnoxiously fast trucks flying past, AND the deer, and Mr.Melon says to me.."OH SHOOT..I forgot THE PLANT" (for his aunt)I give him "the look" and tell him that if he thinks we are turning back he can just piss off and take me home and I'll stay there-So now he gets mad and besides never talking anyway(nor eating fried chicken loosah -hahaha)he is MOODY..arrrrrrrgh..great trip I think. I finally convince him to stop the car in Maryland so that I can stretch my old achy bones and get some coffee (I was freezing)..do we stop for breakfast though? NOOOOOOO..Ol' cheapo goes into the rest area where we are and gets himself some danish out of a machine and hands me a package of those nasty cheese cracker things. ICK..thank god I brought the reserves, some fruit, some nuts...Anyway, a detour to rte66 an on into Virginia we go..(with a stop in Reston Virginia first to visit a friend, in which we get lost on Baron Cameron Ave (for anyone who lives there-what is with all that construction!)and after a half hour of circling around-we finally find the street we need ..and our friend and his wife are NOT EVEN HOME!!!( he had told them our tentative eta would be in the late afternoon instead of morning)anyway-we leave a sorry we missed you note-and head to annandale..go visit the aunt for 3 hours,(she kept falling asleep in her chair)and then decide to go into DC to see whats up down there..Of course CHEF did not stand at the corner to great me in Alexandria so we had to find our own amusement..basically we drove through the city, never got out of the car, and then headed back on rte66..(we only saw the pentagon from the backside, although we did see cranes and whatnot above the place on the other side..dimwits were stopping their cars along the sides of the highway and walking up over the hill behind the place to see what they could see at one point)..I never realized that it's located where it is-no wonder it was an easy target! we did however stop for dinner, and by the time we were back on the road it was after 5pm and getting dark-I drove from West Virgina to Harrisburg and then called it quits, put Mr.Melon back behind the wheel, and then proceeded to freak out over the deer again. We got home at 1am, and then I got up at 4am to see the damn Meteors, but didn't see ANY when I was outside (all of 5 minutes)...What a day.

Wow, Obby that sound like one fun road trip! The deer in PA are out in force. As are the hillbilly hunters. Route 78 looks like some sort of sick display of the various stages of decomposition of deer. From the fresh kill to the hide on skeleton, it is sooo gross. I love deer, even though my dumb @ss husband totalled his car avoiding one.
Sounds like you had one hell of a day.
As for the meteor shower my husband went out at 4 this morning and said he saw a lot of it. You could not get me out of bed that time of morning for anything.

Annandale is not such a bad place. A lot of DC monuments are easy targets. Just yesterday I was looking at this plane taking off on my way home from DC to MD and looked at how easy it would be to crash into Washington Monument and wondered how fast those fighter jets would intercept it.
Scary eh? Esp now that you see how close all the landmarks are from Nation Reagon airport.

Why did they have tee-pee's on the mall? It seems like everytime I've been down there those tee-pee's are always there..it certainly seemed less congested than other Saturday's that I've been down there..I couldn't believe how low those planes fly..We saw 5 or 6 coming and going when we were driving around, and I kept looking to see if I had my hardhat with me..geez..
