View Full Version : IDE Controller Card ... CD ATAPI error

Ok,

I just installed an IDE controller card in a friend's 1.4 Athlon system.

It solved the CD recording problems... but at boot, it tells me that no CD device drive is installed or the ATAPI device driver is not installed.

I remember that someone installed an ATAPI driver somewhere in their system, but I don't know where I would put it or where to get the driver files.

Can someone help me with this? What more info do you need? Or does this problem already sound familiar?

Thanks!

Does the controller card have its own bios? If so, it won't show up on the system post, rather you'll have to enter into the ide controller card bios (different from system bios) to access the settings on the drive and etc.

Yes, it does. However, I had trouble accessing it. It said, "Press F1 or F11 for Windows 2000."

I tried both and neither brought me to a BIOS screen.

Any more ideas? It's a pain in the arse to have to press <A> every time the computer boots, you know?

Uh, I think there is only one way to access the bios and thats it. . .

Heh, sorry man. Not sure why its not working though. Is the keyboard not connected to the ps2 and in the usb instead?

Nope... it's old school (ps2). I wonder what it could be.
