View Full Version : Harry Potter (ok, give me a break)

Well, I gave into the billion dollar advertising scheme of AOL Time Warner and went out to watch Harry Potter last night. Ninety-nine percent because my friends pressured me to go last night (I can't believe I waited in line 30 minutes to watch HARRY POTTER on OPENING NIGHT!!) and 1% because AOL Time Warner had brainwashed me enough that I was sort of curious to see how the movie turned out. Well, anyhow, it was childish entertainment of course, but quite well done I must admit.

I hadn't read the books, but I had heard the movie was made to be quite faithful to it's source and that was quite apparent by the kids' reciting lines during the movie. There is plenty of humor for both the kids and adults. The sets were well crafted and graphics done quite beautifully, too. But what really brings this movie to life were the characters. Every persona in the movie was so memorable with strong personalities and such childish - in a good way - energy (and how can you resist Alan Rickman??). I just wish I watched it 15 years ago. Roger Ebert said, "every generation has its classics, and Harry Potter just might become this one's." I somewhat agree with that. If you have kids, definitely take them to see this. If you're an adult with 9 bucks and an evening to waste, go and watch this. The experience itself of watching this in a room full of kids was quite rejuvenating. I felt 10 years younger afterwards.

I think the movie was alright, coulda been better though. I thought of how much work went into that movie, geez...

it would have been much better if I was still 10 years old, the funniest part of it was when the people sitting in front of me got in a fight over reserved seats...

LOL, if there was only guarantee that that would happen everytime, I would worry less about paying to see a bad movie. Watching people fight is always good entertainment. The funniest part for me was when I was waiting in line to watch it. There was some guy who was ranting about how all the magic crap is so ridiculous and how the whole Harry Potter story was such bullsh*t (How serious this guy was, I have no idea). All the little kids were listening to him with such disappointed expressions on their face, and their parents were quite disgisted by him, too. It was funny to hear such rantings from someone who was waiting in line to see the movie himself on opening night.

I honestly have no drive whatsoever to see this movie. I guess its cause I've never been into that type of genre, hence why I will not see Lord of the Rings either. *me dodges fireballs from everyone* The only way I will end up seeing either movie is if some hot chick makes me go see it :p
