That is if you don't have the cleaning wipes...

I just want to see what the masses have to say about this issue

Donnie brought home some cleaning papers from work :)

We use those. But I was raised never to put cleaner on a screen, tv or computer. So, it's a wet paper towel followed by a dry one if the cleaning papers are not around.

I usually throw it in the washer with whites.

all i know is Dont use windex. It messes up the special coating on the monitor. I dont need to cleen it too often since i avoid touching it but when i have to i just use a damp tissue.

I buy the cleaning wipes. Sometimes just my finger and some spit. :D

I'm down with your "homemade" variety of cleaning wipes.

While we're on the topic, how about cleaning a laptop screen? Mine is dirty b/c my sister used to have it and she never took care of it. The screen is so soft I don't want to damage it. Any special suggestions for the laptop?

ive been using windex.... sometimes i spray it on the monitor, sometimes on the towel. ive used it on my monitors for years (ive had a computer since before i was born--1984) and they look allright...but if you say its bad, i suppose i should stop.

uh, WHAT special coating?.... last time i knew, it was just glass... andy "special" coatings should be on the inside of the glass, not the outside.

i always use windex, on all teh monitors at work, and all the ones we sell.

not on flatscreens though, well, not too much - they're more of a plastiky substance.

Believe it or not I use a tad of super glue, it reacts with the special coating and cleans it fairly nicely... Immediatley after applying I rub it in with a paper towel to assure it activates the coating.

I tried rubber cement, it doesnt work as nicely as a permant bond does.

Good Luck

I'm not bold enough to try to clean my monitor with super glue.

ahh yes, laptops are made of a very different substances... just like the flatscreens. I would just use a damp cloth, OR, go get some Microfiber cloth and use that - its awesome.

You guys got it all wrong. If you never take the monitor out of its box, you don't have to clean it!!!

An old sock. Clean of course, 100% cotton. If there are spots on the monitor (from sneezes, carbonated beverages, reading G|A posts while drinking anything, whatever) I use isopropl alcohol, preferably as a fine spray.
