Kind of a long, complicated story, so I'll try and be as brief as possible.

Many of you may remember my mom having a heart attack several months ago. She has been doing well, adjusting to the eating habits, etc. She still gets tired VERY easily, but that is normal.

Anyway, my grandparents (her parents) live in Birmingham, Alabama. They weren't pleased with what my mom's cardiologist had told her about there being absolutely nothing he could do to help her heart become stronger or whatever. So they went and spoke to their cardiologist. They had my mom get her files all sent up there for him to look over and he said that if she were to have ANOTHER heart attack, it would most definitely kill her. He said that he recommended having an angioplasty done on the 2 main arteries that were blocked. (One is 50% blocked and one is 80% blocked.) Anyway, they decided to go ahead and have her come to Birmingham and HE would do the angioplasty. He said that they would be able to tell right away, even before she came out of the anesthesia, whether or not the angioplasty worked. And if it didn't, he would immediately do a bypass, so she only had to go in once, instead of possibly having to go in 2ce.

Anyway, she flew there today and is scheduled to go in on Tuesday morning (although she forgot to stop taking her blood thinner on Thursday night, and she took it until Saturday night, so they may have to postpone it a couple of days...). Please keep her & my family in your thoughts & prayers.

Thanks. :)

God bless and keep you in this troubled time.

Don't worry too much. Angeoplasty is a fairly simple procedure with a high success rate. My Mom has had it done twice. My dad has had a tripple bypass. Both are fine and I am sure your Mom will be too.

Jenny-

I hope all goes well with you, I semi know what you are going through. But people have beat the odds. My gramma got a new heart in early 1981 they said she wouldn't live past 1983, she was the 10th person at UCLA to get a heart transplant. She lived until 1994. I believe that everyone can prove doctors wrong when they say stuff. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Update about my mom. :) It went REALLY well! They were able to open both arteries 100% and said that there is an 80% chance that both will stay completely open without problems. :D So everything looks great! She was released this morning and flies back home to OK on Monday evening. Thanks guys!
