Good review. Now I can't wait at all to start building a new box. . .

Excellent job, as always. It made me laugh. It made me cry. (Although that could be because I haven't been taking my medicine.) In all honesty, the review was well done, contained all the pertinent info without the fluff and filler. Me, I'm leaning towards the Asus for the new box I'm putting together next month.

Giants benchmark:
"To be honest, I was expecting a little better performance out of the Radeon, but what we are likely seeing is the result of immature drivers. After all, Nvidia as gone through 21 or so version numbers with the Detonators, that gives them an edge right there."
No. The Radeon 7500 is basically a 0.15-micron Radeon (http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1517&p=2). The Radeon line of videocards has been out for over a year.
The poor performance may be explained that the test is under WinXP. Plus even the 8500 is not doing great in Giants.
"I did run a suite of Full Scene Anti Aliasing, but had to throw the results out, as I couldn’t trust them. The 7500 was actually getting faster at higher resolutions and the Pro card seemed to just pick an average frame rate based more on mood then resolution. I’m not sure what the heck was going on there, but I just could not get consistent benches from either card. I will say that it appeared that the 7500 did not suffer any huge performance loss at 4xFSAA, nor did the Ti200, but I don’t want to give out numbers I don’t trust."
For the Pro and especially the 7500, fsaa is very likely not working at high resolutions. It also may be dropping back to 2xFSAA mode.

I know that reviews rarely mention this, but if you have a chance to forward your comments on how well the Asus does in 2D, I would appreciate it.
ATI and Matrox have garnered reputations for excellent 2D graphics, while nVidia-based boards have generally not fared as well.
Since this PC that I will be assembling will be used by the family, the majority of the time will NOT be spent playing 3d games, so 2D performance is important.
Thanks.

The review was a good one. I only wish you had included and compared the ATI RADEON 7200, RADEON 64 MB DDR, Hercules 3D PROPHET 4500, a GeForce2-TI based card and the VISIONTEK GF3-TI-200
The RADEON cards and the GeForce2-TI cards are priced at $149 and under and The KYRO II based cards were the low cost solution for a time.
How would you rate the GeForce2-TI as far as performance and visuals compared to the RADEON DDR and the RADEON 7200? From what I can see spec. wise the GeForce2-TI cards are placed between the PRO and the ULTRA but I am not sure of any other changes that it may or may not have. It would be helpful if some one could compare the New GeForce2-TI with the RADEON 64 MB DDR, RADEON 7200 and even a GeForce2-Ultra and Hercules 3D PROPHET 4500
I currently have a PROPHET 4500 and it's been working pretty good till just recently. COMANCHE 4 will NOT RUN, BUMMER.
I need to know if the NEW GeForce2-TI is worth getting to replace the 3D PROPHET 4500 and if so, how much better it really is. At less than $149.00 it's not a big price to pay if it's faster than the KYRO II card and the RADEON 64 MB DDR and it's visuals are on par.
Thanks

I know how long the chip has been out, I said the drivers for nvidia have been tweaked and loved for far longer than ATI's drivers. I still say it's a driver issue, likely they optimized it more for D8 than D7.
I was forcing it to use 4x, but you might be right.

To be honest, I usually can't see the difference in 2D between cards - I'm a horrible judge of those things. They both seemed fine to me, but i couldn't personally pick a winner there - my eyes just aren't good enough.
Mobile, I think I answered you in an email, but - I can only compare cards I have. No idea how the GF2 and the 7200 would rate, though I am getting a GF2 here pretty shortly for review.
Chances are the newer GF2 Ti200 will beat the Kyro in raw fps, but the kyro will still likely scale better.

No.
The war effort and all, you understand.

the war effort != a reason to not tell us the ram access speed

no, but it amused the hell out of me to say so.
I have those numbers around here somewhere, but I'll have to get back to you on it. I know I noted 'em.

Went out and got me a new ASUS V8200 Ti200 and after fiddling with 3Dmark2001, I noticed that in the information tab in the diplay tabs the AGP Bus said this (Bus Type: AGP 4x (current rate 1x) Side band off.)
My ? is how do I change the rate from 1x to 4x ?????????
MB FP-KT133A
AMD Athlon 900 @ 902Mhz
Asus V8200 Ti200 Pure
Any help would be greatly Appreciated!!!!!

The reason why the drivers come with AGP4x disabled is some motherboards have stability problems with AGP4X enabled. Personally, I run at AGP2X.
How to turn on AGP4x. Consult http://www.geforcefaq.com/faq.cgi
Download and use http://www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/ or http://www.nvmax.com/ These are great for tweaking your Geforce card.
