If any of you have an old computer that works that you are willing to sell will you please let me know. My aunt does not have a home computer and could really use one, so I am trying to find a computer at a reasonable price so a couple of us can chip in and buy it for her for christmas. So any kind of help would be great. Please let me know if you know of any good deals going on or if you know of someone who is trying to sell their computer. Thanks.:)

Hey what kind are you looking for and what's your budget? If you just need something for email, word processing, I have a really old one that I can fix up.

I don't think we are looking for any type in particular. Just one for e-mailing and typing, the basics. I don't think my family is willing to pay more than like $700 for it, so we are not looking for much. Doesn't matter how old or anything just as long as it works.:winkie: Anything would help. We are looking cheap(afterall she is not very bright when it comes to computers:rolleyes: ) Thanks again.

For $700 you can get a really good system out there, maybe even make one youself.

Hey Irish, can you explain a little more about the computer. I am not very intelligent when it comes to computers(I am still learning). So if you could just give me a little more information and tell me how good it is or something. I am not a computer genius i just like to hang around those people:P Thanks.

Don't make your aunt a computer or get someone else to make it either. That means you become the tech support for your aunt - which you probably don't want to become.

Go get her a Dell, Gateway, HP or Compaq.

Try tigerdirect. They have some old ones. Make sure they have a warranty (no refurbs). Then you can let your aunt call them for tech support.

If you can't afford the above, don't get your aunt a computer.

Techbargains.com has all the latest deals on these machines. Gotapex recently has only posted the really good deals - which there are not many.

I second the Dell option, if you're aunt is too computer savvy, she'll turn to you everytime she doesn't know something and when something is wrong. With a retail computer you'll get the tech support. Dell's are very good systems and you can probably get a decent one complete with monitors and the whole schebam for the price you specified.

Yeah, go for the Dell, or something around that range. Even if she isn't knowledgeable about computers, anything with less than a 300 Mhz processor and 128 megs of ram will get restricting really fast. Besides, if you get a newer computer bundle, you will also get newer programing with it.

I hate to say this after all the help you guys have been, but it looks like she does not want a computer anymore. Instead she wants to send he spoiled son on a cruise and wants everyone to contribute to that instead. Now i feel so bad :banghead: for asking for all your help, but i figured i should say something before anyone else spends time giving me great ideas. Anyways my poor aunt will go without a computer for a while because of my cousin:bash: Sorry that you took time out to help me for nothing.:(
