ok, so i overshot the $1000 refund limit a tad... i think ya'll will forgive me http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/wink.gif
does anyone have this? If i sign up for it, and rarely use it, will they charge me any monthly fees or service fees?

i don't have it, but i know that the amex blue had no monthly fees when i looked into possibly applying for one a month back. Eventually i realized that i don't make enough to keep them happy with my part-time worker/full-time student life. Oh well.

No monthly or yearly fees, no matter how much you spend. Generally, you want to use it for all your computer purchases. This is because as prices drop, you can get money back.
Nice. Thanks. I'm still 18, is that enough to get it, or can only my parents get it?
I'm 18 and I've got an Amex Blue -- I also just got a Visa Nextcard. Both seem really good although my AmEx Blue is far cooler. I just wish it accepted at more places.

i looked at the site adn there's a Minimum Finance Charge....what's that for?

JIWC - All CC companies charge a minimum finance charge if you carry a balance month to month (usually around $0.50). If you pay off in full each month, or if you don't use the card, no charges.

i applied and they told me that i do not qualify. hmm. i've a full time engineering job for half a year at a time. what are they thinking? i got a letter saying that i was not eligible, but that i was able to get some platinum amex card. seems odd. maybe i am making TOO much money?? haha, i highly doubt that!! :P
i have the card and i think its the greatest.. esp with them paying the difference if you buy something but find it cheaper later!! i wonder if they'll do that for gas.. hmmm.. i should call them.

If you were declined decision is based on your credit bureau. Simply call your local credit bureau and request them to send you full credit report then you will be able to see why they always decline credit requests for you.

I have qualified for the card in early may, but I haven't received it yet!!! http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/mad.gif http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/mad.gif
I just got off the phone from the customer service, and the person said they are having a shortage of the chip http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/tongue.gif so I won't be getting it until the end of June.

I was approved for this card on April 13 and just got it two days ago. The chips been on backorder for awhile but they did get a shipment of them last week.
Hold your Amex BLUE under a blacklight; you'll see the word AMEX light up. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/eek.gif

How does that work? How do I get my money back as prices drop? Is it for desktop and laptop computer purchases only? Thanks Apex.

the way the price guarantee works is that if the price of anything you buy drops within 6 months (i believe), you get refunded the difference. i think you are allowed to have $2000 per year refunded. apex said that you will want to use the blue card on computer purchases because that is an area in which prices are always dropping drastically. i wish i had one!

Cool. I've had BLUE from the start; I wish I had known about this price guarantee feature. How do I get the difference refunded? Do I contact Amex by phone? I'm gonna be having a lot of fun with this.

I am going to use it for my airline tickets. Sometimes I book flights only to find that they aren't full and go on NetsAAvers for much less when they try to fill the plane at the last minute. This could be a good way to get back a couple of hundred bucks if that happens again.

Here is the info re:BLUE from the AMEX website. May not work with airline tix since you must show a printed advertisement.
--------------
You’re assured the lowest price available on a covered item purchased entirely with an
eligible American Express Card in the U.S. If, within 60 days of your purchase, you see
the identical item in a printed, dated advertisement at a lower price than you originally paid, American Express will refund the price difference to you, up to $250 per item.
Refunds are limited to $1,000 annually per Card account. For more details or to file a
request for a refund, call 1-800-557-8317.

Yeah, it takes them a while to get Blue. I applied about a month and a half before mine arrived last week. That'll be the last time I ever pay for hire car insurance again (yup, they cover that too!). http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
The funny thing was that I got a kiss-ass letter from them a day after it arrived asking if I wanted to apply for a gold card. They went on about how exclusive it is and how hard it is to get one these days, swiftly bypassing the $75 a year fee.
Methinks not. http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif

Should these cards be transparent/translucent or are they really opaque just like all other credit cards? I have one and it looks like any other card out there.
How do you know if a purchase counts as a "covered item" or not?
Plutarco.....so it's gotta be a printed ad? That's gonna hurt for computer components. Do you know if they accept website pricing? The main reason I got the card was to recoup some cash on components.....love how the prices drop so fast. Well, off to order my bluecard reader.......
call-in: they are opaque, the only diff is that they have the hologram or whatever is it, and the sliver chip. also, the strip on the back is silver instead of the normal black.

i just got a letter in the postal mail saying "Because of strong demand for Blue and the special technology it uses, the time needed to produce the card is a little longer than other cards. Therefore, you will received your card in a few weeks".. this is taking a long time to come..

I couldn't find this info on their website, I'm sure it's in the contract somewhere though.

I don't think airline tickets are covered in this... Although I'm not certain.
There is a number you can call to find out what items are not covered. I called yesterday but I don't remember for sure whether airline tickets are one of them http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/smile.gif
Most of them are services and food/animals http://www.gotapex.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

You have to call their "lowest value" number to find out.

Yeah, I ordered mine in October last year when they first announced it, and I didn't get it until December. Worth the wait, tho...
