nodamnedsense made thanksgiving dinner for 100 ppl for the international club on monday... he's from KY, so it all had a southern bent - collard greens, cornbread stuffing, smoked turkey, etc. i contributed 3 pecan pies. very good. today went to my aunt n uncle's - turkey, cranberries, ham, stuffing, mashed taters n gravy, fruit salad, pies galore, salad.

You know what xsiled? You are just a jerk, plain and simple. I don't know if I've ever met anyone who is as mean as you are. Grow up before you slip up in real life and make someone as angry with you as we all know you are capable of.

11-22-2001, 09:07 PM
My Grandma bought one of those George Foreman rotisserie machines in the hopes of cooking the turkey in it. Last night she discovered that the turkey that she had bought was too big. She was so determined to use that dang machine that she went to the store and bought a beef roast to cook in the rotisserie machine and she ended up making the turkey in her old roaster. :heh:

So on top of the turkey and roast beef, we had a coleslaw (heheh) that had pineapple and mandarin oranges in it (looked strange, but tasted really good), mashed potatoes, stuffing cakes, corn casserole, mashed sweet potatoes, chicken and noodles, fresh rolls, and plenty of desserts. mmmmmm, pumpkin pie... :D

I ate way too much and felt very uncomfortable afterwards! It was great!

Oh, no, it was nothing like that. :) We usually go down to OK to my parents' house for Thanksgiving and stay here at his folk's house for Christmas. This year, we changed it around. My sister is at college in South Carolina and will be home for Christmas, so we wanted to go down there then, so we could see her. Anyway, my father-in-law was working on Thanksgiving but had today off, so our big Thanksgiving dinner wasn't til today. I just got upset cause a) I was missing my family & the traditional big family dinner & gathering we always have & b) It seemed sad that we were doing absolutely nothing on Thanksgiving. After talking to my hubby late last night, we realized that it wasn't necessarily the date that we celebrated, but being together whenever.

Today was great. :)

lets see, for appetizers we had chips and dip, deviled eggs, yummy cheese dip for crackers that my uncle makes, and a little something i like to call artery blockers- jimmy dean sausage, hamburger and velveeta broiled on an english muffin. yum yum.

for dinner, i ate mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, stuffing and pasta in the pot (shells w/sauce, cheese and sour cream). the other stuff we had that i didn't eat: turkey, squash, peas, and cranberry sauce.

desserts were plentiful- i had some grasshopper brownies, oreo goop (one of those jello no bake dessert thingys) and lots of ice cream. there were also three different pies, cookies and some lemon squares.

as usual, way too much food but yummy leftovers.

My family ended up going to vegas for thanksgiving. Our meal consisted of foie gras, oysters on a half shell, and steak tartare for appetixers. Our main courses were seared ahi tune, roasted lobster, and grilled jumbo shrimp. Dessert was 3 different kinds of creme brulee.

I would say beef sukiyaki is an equivalent, with the exception of the broth.
