so i spent the weekend at my sis's cause it's closer to work and i had to be there early. so when i get back, i turn on my computer and in the boot mode, mcaffee finds a virus. so i press the "any" key (ala simpsons) and i proceed to scan my whole system. i find 1863 infected files on my C: and 151 on my D: this blows. i think it's an email/outlook virus cause i opened outlook express (not while online of course) and saw an email in my out box. the message read "this is what i needed..." and that was it. so i'm like wtf.
after the scans were done, i still have these weird lil envelope type icons ALL OVER THE PLACE. i think i'm just goin ot reformat.
i don't think i sent any virus's out to my buddies, cause my ISP doesn't support smtp via outlook. i usually have to log on to yahoo, and send on. either way...
do you guys know what the heck it is?
damnit, this sucks...i need a 2002 virus scan for XP now.

Ouch, how come mcaffee doesn't tell you what kind of virus it is?

it did
i just wasn't paying attention...or enough to write it down.
i've been continuously scanning and i found 131 more infected on the D: and looks like a whole bunch left on my C: (still goin as i type)
looks like just infected files, not the actual virus itself.

no, i'm just glad it's (my computer) still operational
i hope i didn't infect anybody else
Sounds like you caught Nimda and if your system isnt patched Nimda mails itself out to anybody in your address book.

That's why I use Eudora and Norton. Most viruses are written for Outlook sp those can be avoided with Eudora. I personally think Norton is better than McAffee, but that's debatable I guess.

as if anybody cares, but i reformatted...a real good excuse to finally put XP on this mother sucker. it's running real nice too. the only probs ive come across is my dvd player, and my tv tuner and my game pad. i've fixed the game pad problem, and the tv tuner problem...sorta. dvd looks like it's doin a software rendering thing where it sucks ass. i went and got 2002 norton and did a quick scan, and i'm virus free.......yah!!!
