View Full Version : Minivans Which is best?

I need a minivan, any suggestions? I'm leaning towards the Honda Odyssey, I like it's 5 speed automatic and 240 horses. I'm also thinking of the Nissan and Toyota. I also want the Navigation system and can pass on the DVD.
If I had to get a minivan, my first and only choice would be the Oddysey. It looks the best, has the sweetest engine, and is reliable as a brick. Nissan suffers from bad dealer service (or so three of my friends have told me) and the Toyota is just boring. Granted, you don't buy a minivan for excitement, but still...

Oh yeah... The Honda Odyssey is awesome... If you could get your hands on one at MSRP. THey have been charging over sticker on that one for a long time.

funny...everyone wants a japanese car...even minivans..
i dunno, maybe I'm just naive, but the first company that comes to mind with minivans is Dodge/Chrysler.

my aunt owned a Dodge and now a Honda. Oh she got it LOADED, leather seats, captin seat.....everything you can get :D
my aunt drive her van like she think she is driving a sport car.
over all I enjoyed both the van. No serious issues on either of the van.
Dodge '96:
Pro- roomy, nice leather seat, tons oc cup holder
Con- weak a$$ engine, bad MOF to wash, handling
Honda'00:
Pro- strong engine, leather seat is alright, power door opening very nice and helpful, handling
Con- not enough room or cup holder, hate the car washing

That's weaker than my car! and mine's a sports sedan dude. I think Minivans should have a mandatory minimum hp of 200. Cuz you gotta hual stuff left and right.

The only price I got over MSRP was carsdirect.com and they were way over MSRP.

with the chrysler minivans....
An available 3.8-liter V6 engine generates 215 HP -- providing the power you need to maneuver confidently.
that's pretty good....
also, you can get all wheel drive on chryslers...
and the power door thing that you mentioned for the honda...you can get that for the Chryslers....for both the side doors and the rear liftgate~! that's awesome :)
also, they've got the 70,000 powertrain warantee
and the low financing (0% -36, 2.9 i think, etc)....

Woops, I think you misunderstood what I meant. I meant that if a sedan can have more power than a minivan that needs to haul hundreds of pounds worth of stuff, its kind of embarrassing. I can see 180 hp being enough for a 4 seat that probably doesn't carry any more than 500 pounds of stuff. But a Minivan??? Those things are meant to carry stuff. They should have more power.
PS-Sports cars that have less than 200 horses should be called sports cars.

Any friends in Canada? You could save a lot of money. Trust me. ;) ;) nudge nudge. You might pay a little more up front in taxes to start, but you can get all of it back as soon as you import it.

Ha ha! That's what I said before I had kids, too. Got an SUV - not nearly big enough. Had to trade it in for a minivan.
I have the Chevy Venture Warner Bros. edition - it's very nice. The VCR is a big plus on long trips. Power is good, nice seating, power sliding door is very handy. However, I get the GM discount so I'm pretty biased towards GM products...

they will tell you that you will get your car in three months, but thats not always guarenteed. if they get someone else who is willing to pay an extra grand to get the first availble one, you get bumped. i dont think that there is that much competition in the minivan market, but thats the way car dealers work. i know more than a few people who have gotten some cars this way.
