alright, so i reinstalled win2k pro and not my front speakers dont work right. they produce very minimal sound even at full volume. it sounds almost like it does when all the sound is coming from the sub only. i have cambridge fps2000 digital w/philips acoustic edge sound card. i reinstalled w/o the sound card plugged in. i cant immagine what could be wrong, it seems like a connection problem, but all the connections are fine. its hooked up exactly as it was before the reinstall. any ideas? thanks.

standard stupid crap we all forget to check: Newest drivers installed, check volume properties. Speaker power source plugged in. Front speaker input put in the right plug.
Anyhow what else could it be. . . uh. I dunno, maybe the wires are bad somewhere.

I always have that problem when there is no power to the speakers too!

haha, no power...
I hope you plugged that in~!
as for other suggestions...
i think SBLive has this, but not sure about the other cards...
but the sb control panel has a thing where you can tell the sound card if you have 2 speakers or 4 speakers....

yeah, thats what it sounds like, except that its speaker wire that goes into the sub which has the power. the back speakers are working so they should be getting power. thanks guys.
