Okay, I got this ol' dell inspiron 7000 sitting here with lonely 98se on it. So I decided to put in xp on it. Its a PII 266 & 384 ram. When I instal XP it gets to the screen saying "x" minutes left until installation complete. Then all of a sudden the screen goes black. EVERY SINGLE FREAKING TIME. I've tried it with the hd formated ntfs and fat32. Nothing. So I decided to settle with wintookay, but again, it blacks out and stops during the installation. I did under 98se a system compatibility check and nothing came up. Any ideas? I'm just guessing the laptop hates me.

HAHAHA I am so stupid. I totally forgot about flashing it. Funny is how I recommend it to others yet I totally ignore me laptop. Anyhow to make it funnier, my bios version was ah3. The newest one was ah15  hehe. . . what? The bios was only 3 years old. . . 2 from the newest update. . . hehe. It works fine now though, funny how it worked out that way. Thanks for reminding me dumb head nhbilly. Oh yeah and also while I was at dell's site for getting the new bios, it said my laptop isn't xp compatible. Hmm. . . why is it xp is running fine on mine? All I have to say to dell is :bash:

i think it a bunch of crap too.....laptop not compatible with XP, unless it is truely OLD laptop.

the only thing that is not compatible is the little feature that comes with ur laptop like the volume control,cd play button, etc.

oh about my kt7, hibernate works like a charm: system load up so fast its sic, more surprise it worked to begin with.
