hey thanks...actually i do have a preference
for airline...either China Airlines
or Eva Air...i am a student, and i will also check with the local travel agency to see if student status discounts apply. my trip is planned sometime middle to end of June.

Are you a student? When do you need to fly out? Any airline requirements? I fly to Asia on a very common basis.
Since I'm a student, I can get a student discount. I use ual.com or expedia.com. You should also try priceline.com or a physical discount travel agency.
You can try Council Travel for student tix.

i was looking for tickets a while back too and the cheapest thing i could come across was about $920 for sfo-tpe-sfo middle of july on china and $960 on ua... the ua deal included an extra 4000+ miles for buying online so i opted for that one... if u can find anything cheaper pls post.... www.cheaptickets.com (http://www.cheaptickets.com) is always where i go to get the cheapest quotes and then i head on over to priceline to enter a price a coupla hundred less than cheaptickets' quote...

You can try to contact some other airline. I believe there's tickets available from Singapore airline for $855 or so LAX-TPE-LAX. If you are flying coach, Singapore does provide good services and they've gotten some good reviews for being a good airline.

Hey... I'm leaving this weekend for Taiwan. Got a ticket for $660 or so. So, deals are out there. Wish I could help you, but I'm not the one who got the tickets... and don't know who did or how he got em. (I'm not complaining) Just keep looking.

Try Priceline, man. You can get some low price tickets from there. I got roundtrip tickets from NYC to LA for $160.

If you fly Singapore Air, you still your UA Mileage plus miles..They're all a part of the Star Alliance. Once again, you have to call specifically and state that you want specific student faires to get cheapie fares :-P

hey zaskar...are you going too??
what school do you go to??
well..my sister is going this year...
and i think i might go next year
after graduation.
Even though EVA Airlines is better, China Airlines have tickets for around 900 bucks.....try to find a small chinese Travel Agency and ask if you can apply for student discount. My gf got a 200 dollar student discount somewhere by just photocopying her school id and submitting it.
this generally should work in the LA county area since there's quite alot of Taiwanese here. In the San Gabriel, Arcadia, Monterey Park, etc....area.
