Well, I stick with the rule that the calories and sugars are listed on the PACKAGE. So long as you don't eat the package, you don't have to count the sugars/calories.

MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm..... Coooookies..... arrrgglll....
Cookies could be the death of me. I don't care if I was on a strict no-fat diet prescribed by my doctor. If someone set a plate of Otis Spunkmyer cookies in front of me, that'd be the end of the diet.

Don't ever, ever diet between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day...you're just going to feel deprived and end up eating stuff you shouldn't anyways. Enjoy yourself but don't overdo it. You've got 11 months to torture yourself.

No kidding!
Topane hit it right on the fat behind of the issue!
:D
Don't try to diet at this time of the year, really bad for you. Can through you into a tailspin.
Meanwhile, I bet the cookies are gone, so I will have to share some recipies down in the GDD forum :)

Never diet. Practice moderation. :)
Heh... Actually, it is a moderation food schedule. I just called it a diet because it's faster to type. I'm on a 4 meal a day eating schedule with about 2,500 calories intake a day. I'm not starving. I do get hungry from time to time, but that's what diet sodas are for. :heh:

Speaking of dieting when did any of you guys start dieting? I mean for me right now (21) I can eat a whole cow and not gain a pound, but I am sure sometime in the future I will gain weight, or have my heart explode.
What ages did your metabolism die at?
after i got booted out of the army, i stopped working out, but kept eating alot.. i weighed 145 when i got out.. i'm now at 198 and i got out in '97... not TOO bad if i say so myself...

I was the same way. In college, I could eat a whole pizza with a side of steak and fries and not gain anything. For me it was about 26. I've always been fairly lean, but I had a summer internship between grad school years where they would take us out eating and drinking every night. Gained 20 lbs in 3 mos. I lost it all in 3 mos once I realized I had a big "pot belly".
I've never been on a "diet", but I usually just try to eat 80% of my food during breakfast and lunch, and have a light dinner. And I stay away from sugary foods - which is easy for me because I don't have a sweet tooth (don't really care for cakes, pies, cookies or ice cream). Its worked for me, I now weigh about the same as when I graduated college.

i think that a lot of what affects your metabolism is a lifestyle thing. when i was in college, i could eat a large pizza for dinner and it never affected me. now, in the past 10 months (since i started working), i've gained at least 10, maybe 20 lbs (i don't know, i don't own a scale). i think the big difference is that i sit for 8-12 hours a day at work, never walk anywhere (i was usually walking at least a couple miles a day between classes and going to my car in college), and go home and sit on my butt at night. plus, i eat out way too much and get a lot of high-fat foods that way.
