computer will not post

I recently fried my processer to a lack of sufficent cooling.Anyway I replaced it with an amd xp 1600+ (had to upgrade memory to 266)ordered crucial pc2100 now my computer will not post I even tried a duron still nothing all the cards seem fine does this sound like a dead motherbard asus a7m266.
