This may be old news, but I just found out what the revised 2002 Aztek looks like. It's still homely and I wouldn't want to be seen in one, but it's a slight improvement:

Still makes me wanna retch. Whoever approved that thing for production should be unemployed.

at least be blacklisted from the auto industry for life. and dont forget about the new pontiac vibe. whoever came up with the idea of a mini asstek should be shot.

They might actually be, the way things are going. :(

this is what happens when GM hires kids to design their cars:puke:

Where are they getting today's car designers, anyway? The Los Angeles Art Center used to supply the majority of car stylists for the automotive industry. Is that true anymore?
I have a feeling that they no longer build 1/2 scale mockups to get a feel what the finished product looks like at different angles; but instead rely on CAD derived images. No matter how you design a car, it has to be viewed at lots of different angles, and then refinements must be made to make the end result appealing.

it's a little better, but still one ugly beast. i think they try to set design trends without realizing how ugly things are. i think they're gonna take a bath on this one, to use DF's phrase.

i'm going to have to slightly disagree with everyone. i HATED last year's model. TOTALLY DESPISED IT. and since i live in detroit, i see a lot of them (i think as punishment, GM is making their execs drive them, because i don't see why anyone else would).
but just taking a quick glance at the pic of the 2002, it looks like it's quite a big better than the old models. to me, it gave me the vibe of some of the european suvs. you couldn't see either the front or the rear though, and both of those looked like they're probably pretty ugly.

I would have to say that is a 100% improvement over the old one. Still ugly, though.

100% improvment on the ugliest car ever isn't saying much in my book...

It now looks better than the Chevy Avalanche and the Ford Escape, from the side anyway.

I took a V6 escape out for a drive the other day. It actually has some decent nuts compared to a few of the other small SUV's I've driven. Handled well, not too much body roll (think Trailblazer, ugh), and accererated to 80mph in a suprisingly short amount of time.

Hopefully car manufactures will migrate away from that ****ty grey plastic. Yuck.
