It has been said before but I didn't really believe it would work. I've had my eye on the Sony DCR-PC9 camcorder which goes for $1299 at sears, amazon, 800.com, etc.
I called my local sears to see if they had it in stock and they said yes, 1 left, and held it for me. I asked if they pricematch (webpage says policy is to match "established" stores such as 800.com, circuitcity.com, amazon.com, ...). The person I spoke with just said print out the page with the total, including shipping for web price match (didn't mention "established" stores clause).
So I printed out http://amphotoworld.com/product_detail.asp?sku=sndcrpc9 from the extremely shady A&M Photoworld and headed to Sears. It was $789 at A&M (lowest price I could find). Total with cheapest shipping was $828. I showed it to the person ringing me up at the store and I really didn't expect for them to match. But she said, "I'm sorry but I can the lowest I can give it to you for is $836 ($789 + 6% tax, I don't follow the logic) Of course I said that was fine with me and walked out of Sears with a great camcorder and I didn't have to worry about waiting for my package to be delivered or dealing with some shady website that might not provide a U.S. warranty with the product.
So if you are in the market for some electronics that are carried at Sears, I encourage you to look at price comparison sites and try to price match. It worked for me...

Thanks!

Do you think they'll pricematch a nikkon coolpix 775? I'm ordering one from Dell but it says it'll be delivered next year!!!!! I can't wait that long...Maybe i'll give it a try...You just printed out a page from the website with the prices right?

Yeah, i've purchased several items from Sears with this policy. Some stores will even price match any retaler. I used a printout from GPS computers to get $600 off the laptop I bought. Best deal is to look for one of their 10% off everything even sale prices with Sears Card weekends and buy then. I got my Panasonic PV-DV51 that way. PM with amazon to $499 - $50 rebate -$50 discount = 399 + tax. great place to price match.

Weird that this just got posted - I just talked to a guy in my office yesterday who did this. Just printed the price with shipping from the website & took it to Sears. Saved $100 on his new DVD player. It was from some little mom & pop type place, and they still matched it.

Good to know!

quick question..
does shipping price get included in pricematching?

The web site policy says "delivered" price but in my experience they usually ad sales tax to that.

they add sales tax to the online shipped price because i think in most states (i know it's the case in michigan), you are supposed to fill out a form with all your online purchases and how much they cost, add up your total spent online for the year, and pay sales tax on it. so theoretically, the sales tax is part of the shipped price, because you would have to pay it at the end of the year.

Well, after approximately 2 hours, 3 sales associates and a manager at the Sears in Willow Grove PA, I was unable to get them to do the price-match detailed above.
It looks like there is some sort of "approved website" list, where they will only pricematch if the lower price comes from a site that's on it. Needless to say, A&M is NOT on their cute little list.
I have a manager calling me back tomorrow, so there's always hope...

That can't be the only sears in the area....where is the next nearest one??? Maybe it's worth the trip.

The other 2 said the same thing. Of course, this was on the phone, so there may be some hope if I come in person...

i called the Sears near my house and asked if they pricematched everything. i did one a while back but that was for a game. so i decided to do one for a PDA this time. more expensive stuff. but the sales ass. told me he couldn't do it. he said he didn't have enough information about the company and that it's not on their list of websites. he said they have a list of about 80 sites. so i'm gonna try another Sears sometime this week. it's gotta work somewhere.
