ADS Pyro DV Raid SUCKS!

This product sucks big time! It is touted to be a high speed firewire raid solution for video editing, but when I put in two 120 gig ata 100 drives and mirrored them the thing would benchmark at 12 mbs burst write, dropped many many frames. It wouldn't even read fast enough to play back the video. The drives benchmarked at 33mbs when I installed them on the motherboard with no striping.

CUSTOMER SUPPORT SUCKS for ADS technologies. Kept getting the run-around for over a week until I happened to catch a manager while I was really pissed off. After much debate he finally admitted that the firewire bridge boards were running slower than they had expected. This means they shipped the product without adequate testing.

MADE ME PAY SHIPPING! to send the faulty raid box back. And I had to charge the new one on my credit card until they got the old one. I think it really sucks that I had to pay shipping twice on this piece of sh*t product. Who knows if the new boards will run fast enough to capture video.

IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET FOR A DV RAID, I WOULD SUGGEST SOMETHING ELSE!:angry:

Damn goyo that sucks a big wet one. Those sons o' bitches have some balls making you pay the shipping. If I were you, I would complain at other message boards that might be considering getting one of them. Try http://www.anandtech.com. Although their forums suck compared to G|A, there are a lot of computer geeks there who are into multimedia. You probably should be able to get the word out there.

If I can think of any other forums I'll let you know.
