 Ive got a bunch of questions here. First of all just wanted to say win XP totally blows and always gets errors and is not compatible with my hardware/sftware. Now, does anyone know where to get XP drivers for A Voodoo5 5000. The crappy ones that come with XP have no adbvanced features and are goddam slow. Second, does anyone know why my ASUS A7A 266 board will not O/C? Ive got a hedgehog sink with the 38cfm delta fan, plenty of case cooling, and a 1.2ghz AXIA Athlon proc. I cant get more than 25 mhz before it crashes. It is advertized to have 25% overclocking, but there arent even core multiplier adjustbents!!!! Please help:angry:

This site should be able to help you - http://www.voodoofiles.com/. Under the File Categories choose 3dfx Drivers (3rd Party) and you'll be shown a list of Voodoo drivers for various cards and operating systems. I was using a Voodoo 4500 and got everything to work. I'd have to look around and see exactly which drivers I downloaded.
I've had few problems with XP, other than Voodoo cards not fully being supported. I upgraded to a ATI Radeon 7500 recently, so I'm not using the 4500. I didn't upgrade because the 4500 sucked, only because I won a gift certificate and needed to spend it on something computer related.
What software are you having problems with? Have you tried right clicking on an program and choosing the compatability tab? You can choose what operating system your program 'thinks' it is running on (Windows 95, Windows 98/ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000). On the bottom of the window, if you click where it says 'program compability' it will open up a help dialog. You can run a program compability wizard to see what compatibility mode will work. I've run No One Lives Forever, Tomb Raider 4, Tomb Raider Chronicles, Alice, Quake III Arena, and others. So far I haven't found any game that will not work.
I can't help you on your overclocking issues, because I don't have your particular motherboard. Is there any reason for you to overclock, other then because you can? Are you doing something that needs the more speed than you currently have?
Right. The WinXp Voodoo 4/5 drivers have basic functionality. For Windows XP there are hacked drivers floating around but they are not fully functional-especially for some Glide and OpenGL games.
Unfortunately the number of places to download Voodoo information has diminished. Gamers-ammo was a great place to download drivers. But it merged with 3dchipset.com and no longer hosts Voodoo drivers. Voodoosource was another site to get files from and they had a good tweak guide there.

http://pub43.ezboard.com/bx3dfx x3dfx discussion board is a good place to find info.

right click on C: and choose format. When it's done, re-install Win 98 SE... :)
seriously though, good luck with it.... i hear nothing but problems
Or better yet reinstall Win2k, which is a better os than the unstable 98.
