Yeah, I think Taiwan is like the other Asian countries. You are an idiot if you pay full price for any merchandise :heh: Strike a bargain!

they expect you to haggle whenever you shop :)

Suckage = 16 hour flight, but you're oging to a foreign country, it should be worth it right?

It usually takes shorter coming back to america...it should take 14 hours...thats what it usually takes me.

Sir Froggy if you can find an album by the band "The NEw Formosa Band" I'll pay you for it, plus 10 bux. "Somewhere near Taipei" is the song I am looking for...

No, Taiwan is not like most Asian countries where you are expected to haggle wherever you go. You go to the super ghetto places, you can haggle and maybe get a better price. Which is the same in the U.S., downtown LA etc... You go to the department stores and botique shops, please, no. Haggling does jack squat. I don't think the pretty girl behind the Jcrew counter will drop your jacket a C-note if you "haggle" with her.

As for the currency, just find the excange rate. Then work out how much $1, $10, and $100 works out to. Keep that in your head while looking at prices. It's not that hard.

I believe its roughly 36NT for every 1 US dollar. Its somewhere around that range.
