I'm curious as to whether you guys think NT 4.0 is still worth it. I've been thinking of building a workstation/digital editing computer, and I want an OS that can utilize dual processors and is efficient with ram.
I could buy the full OEM install of NT for almost $100 less than Win2K. Do you guys think that 2K is worth the extra $100? Because, if not, that money could be better spent elsewhere.

Scroll to the bottom. Win2K solves the 4gb file size limit.
Yes its worth it.
You could try to find a old evaluation copy to test and see if it meets your needs.;)

Very good point.
Even though most digital cams are gonna use firewire.
You still may need the usb for other things.
Sounds like your gonna go for some bucks anyway so dont try to cut corners on something that has grown to be a very stable and supported platform.

Okay, thanks guys, that really helps.
Of course, I didn't think I was going to have this dilemma myself, but I saw that the price difference between 2K and XP is almost nil. I think I'd rather go with 2K, however, just because I think it might have better driver support at the moment.
