I recently got a used laptop from a friend. The OS is redhat linux. Since i'm not a linux user I would like to install windows 2000. My friend told me to just boot from the cd and install win2k and that should be it. But how do I boot from the cd with linux installed. I'm trying to get to the bios but i can't do it. If this doesn't make sense i'm sorry, but can someone please help me out.

linux won't mess with the bios / boot options.
If you are sure the CD is bootable (Win2k should be, maybe you have a bad CD, try it in another PC), then you have to change an option in the bios - every normal PC has a bios that you can mess with.
You should try pushing lots of keys on startup - as soon as you push the power button. The usual ones are :
F1, F3, F5
DEL , END
One of those should work. Try pushing those quickly and repeatedly :) Let us know if it doenst work. GOod luck
