View Full Version : S-Video Interference

i have a radeon 7500 connected to my reciever thats connected to my tv through an s-video cable (Shielded) but im getting interference in the form of lines. it looks like its slowly refreshing the image. anyway, i'd like to know what can possibly cause this kind of interference to an s-video cable. i have the cable close to a back-up power unit. its also close to a monitor and a computer but thats pretty much it. i'd like some helpful imput on this subject, so please dont hesitate to post. thnx

This is just a guess, but maybe your TV can't handle the refresh rate that your video card is putting out. Is the interference constant, or does it change if you move the cable around? If not, then see if you can mess around with the refresh settings on your video card.

im pretty sure my tv can handle the refesh rate. i have a jvc i'art. and the interference doesnt seem to be constant. i had it in a knot, after i unknoted it the picture looked a little better. the lines that were there before had fated a little. thats why i thought maybe something i had was interfering with the cables. i have a monitor a few inches from the cables when i first had it in a knot. could it be the monitor?

When can a TVs refresh rate match the monitors?
Maybe on an HDTV or PLASMA...have one of those?

if you had a knot, you might now have a bad cable.

i actually didnt really have the cables in a knot. i sorta had it in a roll. and wraped it with a twisty tie. i thought it might have been the monitor i have near by, or maybe even the computer case. is there anything thats known to cause any kind of interference other than having it in a knot.
