Before I return these systems to Virgin (they didn't sell on ebay) I'm offering them up for sale to the G|A community. I have 3 PS2s, 3 extra controllers, 3 memory cards and 3 copies of Metal Gear Solid 2. Please PM me if you're interested. I would like to make some money on this though, for my time and to replace ebay fees, so make your best offer. Thanks!

What do you mean when you say they didn't sell on ebay?

I mean they didn't hit the reserve (which was set just slightly above what I paid for them). I've had people offering me like 200 bucks for just the PS2, which is 10 bucks less than what I paid - I'm not in the business of losing money!

That's ridiculous... Brand new PS2s are selling for $200 on eBay?? Usually (actually alomst always) the price of anything popular will climb up to nearly it's retail price. There's always somebody who will bid high, cause they're happy to get at least $10-20 off retail.

Tell me about it...that's why I didn't think twice when I bought a dozen PS2s at Virgin :)
Thankfully I can still return them.
(FYI, I got another offer today for $200 for the unit...sigh)

Maybe you should list it without the reserve. I bought 2 systems from Virgin, and sold them already way above my cost. Around $280.00 each not including shipping. I start my bid at $1.00 and it just climbs from there.

Yea, that's what I do. I always start my auctions at 1 cent, 3 day, and no reserve. I dunno about other ebayers, but when I see an auction with a reserve, it completely turns me away and I just look for another auction without one.
Reserves:smash:

yeah very true. If it's a popular item, you shouldn't worry too much about having the item sold at a low price. Trust me, people hunt eBay from corner to corner and will find your item and bid. Very likely, the reason that sputnik23 couldn't sell the PS2 is that people probably automatically thought the reserve was way up there and didn't even bother to bid.

very probable, even though I listed the reserve price in the auction

Yeah, even if you explain it in the auction, people might press the back button as soon as they see the "reserve" indication. There are many many auctions for PS2s out there in eBay so they probably won't even want to spend time dealing with the reserve auctions at all. Just put them up again without the reserve. I'm sure they'll sell VERY well. Good luck.
