View Full Version : Good game to rent for PS2?
Ok so I beat GTA3. I want to go rent a game but it seems that all the good games out for PS2 (MSG2, FFX...) are games that take a while to beat. I hate renting games like that because it's like reading half a book and then putting it away. Any suggestions?

MGS2 is actually very beatable within a rental time frame. I did it in 17 hrs over two days. Most rentals around here are 5 days, so that would give you ample time. Even a 3 day rental is doable. As for FFX... good luck beating that in any rental time frame. I'm over 30 hrs into it, and I think I'm probably half way. I've had for 11 days now...

Yeah definitely get MGS2. It's a very short game. And it's very very good. If you haven't done it, play part 1 first. Just for fun.

For a rental, I would be more inclined to got with a sports-oriented game, like SSX Tricky. Sports games don't really have a long-term goal, so you can play them as much or as little as you want without feeling guilty about not beating the game.
I remember when I rented Chrono Trigger for SNES, but I never beat it before I had to take it back. Actually, I still, to this day, have not beaten that game. Maybe it's time to download the ROM! :P

Yeah a friend and I were going on a snowboarding trip a couple weeks ago, and since it was his first time ever and my first time in five years, we thought we needed some "visual aid." So we rented SSX tricky. It was a great game. Quite realistic and lots of tricks you can do. But we were stupid to attempt those tricks at the slopes the next day. We kicked our own azzes.
So I rented MGS2. God damn. It feels like i'm watching a movie and THEN sometimes I get to play. It's kinda boring. Play for 2 seconds..5 minutes of cut scences...play for another 2 seconds...

yeah, it's a game about this little kid with a club and he has to lead a princess person out of the dungeon while protecting her. Gets frustrating at times, but pretty fun. Well... actually don't listen to me, I played it at toys R us for almost 2 hours...
Ah ok, I thought it was an acronym for something. ICO got a 9.4 review at ps2.ign.com. Maybe i'll check it out in my next rental. Oh and I'm getting into MGS2 now. Some of the storyline I don't get because I nver played MGS1 but haha it's kind of exciting. Like playing a movie.

MSG2?? That's what I put in my food!!:D
Yeah I'm playing MGS2 now. I beat MGS1 first just to get the story line. MGS2 really is 80% animation and very little gameplay, especially towards the end. And the plot!!! OMG, this is like The Usual Suspects + Fight Club + Vanilla Sky + Clue + Rambo = MGS2. There are so many plot twists that even though I'm at the last boss (I think...) I still don't understand who the real bad guy is. This is the typical infinite creativity and complexity that makes Japanese Anime (Akira is by far one of the most popular animes round, but does anybody actually understand what it's about?). I guess at this point I'm just playing for the action.
But the graphics!! THIS right here people is the future of gaming.

The best games to rent on PS2 is Max Pyne, and Time Spliters. They are not too long but they do give you a challange so they will take up a cupple days but a lot of fun to play.:heh:
