x10.com TWO for ONE sale
The X-10 components have been around for quite a few years... the remote control switches and dimmers that Radio Shack has sold under its private label as well as numerous other private labels... and under the X-10 brand itself.
Recently, X-10 has taken advantage of its knowledge of RF signals to produce a line of mineature spy cameras of several types.
Their website, www.x10.com has always had good deals. For a while, they were FABULOUS deals, now they are just back to GOOD. If you sign up for their mailing list, you'll get notice every couple of weeks of some sort of promotional sale and, right now it is, drum roll please, the NEW YEARS SALE.
The ten most popular items of 2001 on special: BUY ONE, GET ANOTHER FOR ONE CENT, through January 8th. With FREE SHIPPING in the US if you buy $50 in sale or non-sale items. And a no risk 30-Day money back guarantee.
Among the items on this deal:
5 items, wireless TV cameras & accessories
4 items, X-10 switches and controllers, including a wireless motion detector
1 item, VCR Commander II
I have a house-full of X-10 stuff. Check it out.

Yeah, don't you just love their popup ads everywhere? They are either looking up a woman's skirt, down her shirt, or naked in a pool...
They should call it the Poon-10 Cam, which is probably what most people use it for.
Granted I'm sure SOME people use it for legitimate purposes, but the way they market it is for pervet voyers it seems....

Buying stuff from X10.com using their so-called "free" gift voucher is a joke. Twice I was jipped because they didn't credit the order with the discount. I emailed to complain several times and not a single reply! Even though I like their product I would definitely reconsider the next time (or last time) I purchase at X10.com. Two times is a charm. Therefore, buyers beware. Anyone else got a similar problem?

I am the first to admit that they have great products, I have alot of their stuff but once you go there, you will get a lot of popups. They install spyware and they generously have a program to stop their popups for thirty days. They have some nerve to make us run a program to stop their popups for 30 days, I resent the intrusion of my privacy. Last month I was forced to reformat my harddrive (X-10 had nothing to do with my need to reformat) and those popups finally stopped and now X-10 is the last place I will go on my computer. If I need something from them, I will do it at my local library computer. I have a great program called AdAware and that got rid of all spyware but X-10's and the same for the program PopUp Stopper. The shame of it is that their products are unique and great, but their aggresive promotion overcomes my need to go there anymore.

I will not buy another X10 product for the simple reason that their agressive ad compaign is disruptive. Here I am looking for car seat covers and their ad pops up in my face - you know what? I know you're out there, and I like your products. But if you insist on berating me just to get some attention, I'll take my business elsewhere.

I had a similar problem with their "free' starter kit"... only I never got the kit. When I called to ask for the status of my "free kit" order they claimed I'd already ordered one some time ago (I hadn't.) The guy asked me in dubious tones "So you never got a kit from us?" I told him I had not, had never ordered from them, and he claimed he'd send the kit out. Nothing ever came and when I checked the order online it was cancelled. No way am I ever dealing with that company again.

Another place to order X10 items as well as other home automation products is at http://www.smarthome.com/ They have a lot of cool stuff although it's not always the cheapest.
