10:00 AM today we buried my friends 5 yr old daughter. I hadn't seen him and his wife since they announced the pregnancy 6 yrs ago. From everything i was told and saw, she was a beautiful, articulate and a warm little girl.
On New years my friend was driving his mini van with his daughters, son and my other friends kids. A drunken idiot side swiped them and instantly changed uncountable lives forever.
She was severly injured and later died in the hospital with her mother by her side. My other friends kids had broken arms and other injuries but will be better in time.
The funeral was beautiful but it felt so wrong to bury someone so young. Seeing the tears on the moms face and hearing her cry was painful and seeing my friend, a grown man, use every ounce of strength to keep it together brought me to tears.
I was trying to just go on and do my normal thing but i need to vent and to share this.
I was also hit and almost died from another drunk driver 11 yrs ago. I will carry the scars and pain for the rest of my life. Its crazy that people are so inconsiderate of others and that they take life for granted.
If anyone reads this, know that by making the choice to drink and drive, you are playing with other peoples lives. If you could see the pain on the parents and family and friends faces than you would know it's better to sleep in your car or to call someone than to "try to make it home."
Plz learn from this and dont drink and drive. Dont be stupid when it deals with other peoples lives.

And drunk drivers usually get off with a slap on the wrist. That needs to change.

When I was 6 I remember my best friend was hit by a drunk driver...to this day I always think of her when I go to cross the road or anything...and always after leaving a bar with friends who are bit too intoxicated to drive. This just sucks!

:bawl: that's sad. I'm sorry. The first funeral I ever went to was for my dad's best friend, she got killed by a drunk driver on her way to pick up her daughter. All I remember of the funeral is her daughter holding a picture of her mom and crying and saying she wants her mom back. It's like something I'll never forget. :bawl:

Whenever they bust someone for drunk driving they should have them help dig the grave of someone that was killed by a drunk driver.
Then again I thing that a person caught driving drunk should be tried for attempted murder. One count for everyone in the city.

They should make them lie buried in a grave overnight with nothing but an o2 tank.

When I lived in NYC I lived directly across the street from a cemetery. Was always sad to see the coffins for children. Sorry about your friends daguther.
