I'm so frustrated I need to vent. Let me share what I wrote to Dell.com about their "wonderful" website and customer service:

"I had ordered a Sony Clie 760 PDA through this site on Friday, January 4, 2002. Your website claimed it was "in stock" and would ship by January 9, 2002. Today, January 9, 2002, I received an email today saying that Dell was having "difficulty" shipping the order, which I find out later that you are on backorder for this product and that I'd have to wait up to 3 weeks for it to ship. I can't even get transferred to the right department to cancel this order. I called Customer Service and was transferred numerous times with Customer Service reps saying they couldn't cancel my order and I finally was transferred to a non-working line.

If you expect to maintain a site of integrity, I would advise you to keep your site updated and do not mislead your customers. This is not the way to build a reputation.

If I can help it, I will never order from Dell again and I will make sure that the people I know hear about the terrible experience and customer service I received."

Kevin

Even though these guys have great discounts, it seems like they have no consideration for people who purchase smaller products from them. Seriously, they SUCK. What a bad first experience, huh?

Has anyone else had bad experiences with Dell?

well, i got screwed on the speakers deal..I wouldn't of felt so bad if other random people it seems got the speakers shipped to them...
I also just ordered a 80 gig HD from them that was listed as in stock, but won't ship until Jan 22.
If something is in stock, why does it take like 2 weeks to ship it.
It's true, they are good at sending out systems but suck at everything else.

Yea...tell me about it. I bought a new PC from them and I was supposed to get $150 back. They sent me a check for $100. I called and they told me that it would be no problem and they will send out the "missing" $50. It's been 6 months and several phone calls later and still no $50.

btw...shouldn't this be in the off-topic forum? Not really a deal...

Yeah, I was thinking it should go in the "Off Topic" forum, but I wanted more of you to see how screwed up Dell.com is.

Didn't mean any disrespect of this forum. :)

Well, I ordered some Network Cards from them in early December (I think) and they emailed me saying that I would get them Feburary 28, so you know that was cool. Yeah, they suck a big ole donkey dick.

hey,
you knew it was in the wrong forum yet you still posted it. believe us, people DO read the other forums... there just aren't as many replies. I think there need to be more moderators of these forums so someone can immediately move these types of threads. this site is becoming less and less of a serious deals forum. No wonder fatwallet only continues to grow and grow...

I have a similar problem to a 256 MB SDRAM shipment. They promised to ship by Jan 09 and just received an e-mail from Dell that the item
won't be shipped till 01/30.

Fatwallet is a decent forum but traders over there should beware. The assistance rendered by that forum in bad traders matters has been less than productive.

No wonder fatwalleters say go over to anandtech and let the trollhunters deal with it. As if the Anandtech trollhunters aren't busy with bad trader matters at Anandtech.

PowerMac4Ever said: "Create a thread in Anandtech ForSale/Trade once it's up again. There are a lot of people who can help you there."

later on lawaris said: "1. Go to anandtech....and post this on FS/FT.
2. Then contact Blade , bigCfromcincy etc."

This is not the first time that has been seen there.

Moving on, near the end of this thread (http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.cfm?catid=25&threadid=57128) Lucky says: "Yes, but at hf and AT, their moderaters are heavily involved in finding and tracking down scammers. AFAIK, that doesnt happen at FW and users are more or less fending for themselves." Oh my http://sbp777.homestead.com/files/redfaceblush.gif
