Where can I find codecs?

I reformatted my hard drive and now I am having trouble .avi viewing media files. Anyone know where I can get the codecs I need? Thanks!

if thats the case check out www.divx.com

cuz if it was just regular old AVI's...windows media player should get them automatically? shouldn't it?

Not necessarily... there are some privetly encoded videos running around, and you need their codec, which microsoft doesn't have.
