Beating for Ben Laden
By Chris Murphy
FURIOUS partygoers beat up a man who went to their fancy dress bash disguised as Osama bin Laden.
He needed 17 stitches in his face and chest after being punched and kicked by 20 guests.
The victim, named Ben, said: "I didn't mean to upset anyone. It was just for jokes.
"What I don't understand is there were at least two guys at the party dressed up as the Devil. Surely he is more evil than bin Laden will ever be?"
But one of his attackers said: "You have to be a real idiot to want to look like bin Laden. He got what he deserved."
Ben, 24, got his thrashing in Auckland, New Zealand. The attackers fled before police arrived.

That's a costume that won't be funny, unless he has a fake clever in his head or a bunch of bullet holes in his army suit... or something.
Otherwise... you're just asking for it.
Dave.
Haha nice find. Kid had to be really stupid to go dresses as Bin Laden, even in New Zealand.

Still, if someone is willing to beat up a person for their costume, they have serious issues. An a$$ chewing yes... but 17 stitches?
Yes, the costume was in bad taste, but that's not enough to kick someone's a$$ over.

Yes it is. Imitation is a form of flattery. If he is flattering bin Laden then he should be severly beaten. Only 17 stitches? He was lucky I wasn't there.
Unless he was mocking Osama (pedo ass licker) bin Laden by adding bullet holes or portraying him as an absolute moron, he should have been beaten.
They should neuter this clown to keep him from reproducing.

Both are increadibly poor taste. Both deserve a severe beating.

Its form of flattery!
Yeah, but isn't...the devil MORE evil? They say Bin Laden is doing the work of the devil or something like that, don't they? Or at least say he's doing evil things. Guess its easier to beat up the tangibles.

Sigh... some people just lack some common sense. I'm sure if he died he would have been a shoo in for the Darwin awards

I know some costume parties encourage tasteless costumes. At my sisters companies Halloween company a couple of years ago, a guy was dressed up as Jean Bennet, with a rope around his neck. He was walking around the party saying "my mommy did it". That was pretty messed up, but he won for most tasteless.
But I agree this guy probably asked for it. Apparently he didn't have any good friends at the party to watch his back.

I dunno... I agree that the costume was tasteless. I still don't see how a 20 on 1 fight is ever justified. Lets face it, the people in the party beat him up because he gave them an excuse, not a reason. This way, they can jump a guy 20 to 1 and go home feeling like they are good people, instead of a bunch of weak bullies who saw someone that they could abuse.

I agree completely.
Not that I would ever dress up as Bin Laden, but I guarantee if those guys tried to jump me, many would probably never walk again, and some might really be missing their larynxes. :bandit:

I'll call you then if someone tries to jump me, because if those guys had tried to jump me, I'd probably never walk again. :heh:

The trick is, you kill the first person that attacks you as quickly and dramatically (dramatically is the most important part of that) as possible. That should buy you enough time to get away.
Also, don't be afraid to rip off ears or genitals; gouging eyeballs works very well too.

No, it would be easier if a group of people wouldn't degenerate into a mob because of someone's costume.
No matter how you color this, it was nothing more than a group of people thinking that they could get away with beating someone up with impunity. If they thought for a moment that there would be any form of retaliation and they personally would have had to face some sort of consequence, they never would have done it.
I can think of many more offensive costumes that could be worn, and after all, how many guys at college frat parties dressed as KKK members do you see getting beaten down?

i'm not saying it was right. but like in pulp fiction:
[vince vega]"antoine probably didn't expect marsellus to react like he did, but he had to expect a reaction."[/vince vega]
this may not have been the most clever costume he coulda come up with if he wanted a positive reaction. and ya, if someone showed up at a place sensitive to kkk stuff wearing kkk garb, i would expect something similar. i'm sure we don't hear about it cuz they don't pull that sh*t in the 'hood. right now, a lot of the globe is sensitive to bin laden. that may be an ok costume in a place that thinks this sh*t is funny...apparently he didn't pick a place that thought it was.
